The trans alps mid outdry® is a lightweight hiker that allows for a smooth transition from running to hiking while covering more rugged mountain terrain with the same aggressive traction and fluid ride. Its virtually seamless upper construction with welded thermoplastic reinforcement gives protection and breathability. The taller, mid-ankle height provides enhanced support and protection while the rubberized screen-print rock guard adds durability in harsh mountain terrain. Outdry® technology encases the upper in a waterproof yet breathable construction. A full-length fluidfoam midsole underfoot provides enhanced cushioning, flexibility and support alongside our patented fluidguide technology for midfoot stability on uneven surfaces and a smoother ride on the trail. The outsole features integrated full-length rubber with trailshield for optimal midfoot torsional rigidity and forefoot protection partnered with larger 6mm lugs for more aggressive traction. Ride heights are 18mm in the heel and 10mm in the forefoot and it weighs 12.9oz for women's 7 and 15.2oz for men's 9. Great Value!
Need a pair of lighter weight but good ankle support hiking boots for some local hikes i wanted to do. These fit the bill perfectly. I love them. For the price, they are perfect. Took them out of the box and did a 5 mile moderate hike to the Indian Seats and my feet felt great. They are probably a tiny bit on the large side in the toe box, but with good hiking socks, I have no issues.

Comfortable right out of box
most comfortable boot, even right out of the box; they are as comfortable as my Montrail Trans Alps Outdry trail running shoes... Am hospice nurse and find these to be supportive, keeps my feet dry and so comfortable... I did size up half a size, usually do in most running shoes, figured these would be the same and was correct, usually wear 8 in clogs/ dress shoes, 8.5 in running shoes and these boots... awesome boot, just bought second pair.... hope Montrail/Columbia keep making them...

Great traction. Live in the White Mountains and good ...
Great traction. Live in the White Mountains and good for all day hiking when you are looking for some ankle support. Also- the platform is a running sole, which is nice to be able to run some sections as well. Comfortable and no blisters=)

Very comfortable shoes
I’ve worn these on two hikes (3-5 miles), and they’ve done really well. No blisters and very comfortable. I wear an 8.5, but I like my hiking/running shoes a bit larger so I went with a size 9.

Comfortable
Montrail are the only hiking boots I buy. Narrow heels and a wide toe box.

Company policy on shoddy manufacturing needs revision
This review is not about the above hiking shoe BUT please read anyway because it is about the company. My fabulous hiking boots, which I wear now and then suddenly lost their entire sole. The sole is not at all worn out; I did not use them in extreme temperatures; they were stored properly. Montrail offers a one year warranty and mine is very much beyond that but the company, unlike Eagle Creek, for example, does not stand behind their product once it is out of warranty. I wanted a solid hiking boot that fit well, reasonable enough, but I would never consider purchasing from Montrail again, even though it was recommended by several knowledgeable hikers. So, Amazon or social media, is my choice to alert others to their not taking the long view: I have many more hiking years in me and they will not have my money. Their loss.
