A very good battery charger
I have always favoured xtar over the other chargers for there reliability i have been vaping well over 10 years and gone through a couple of xtars the last one being a 4 slot VC4 and that only died because i spilt my brew on it. Now back to this little gem it seems to be very well built, and @ £32 very good value for your money the unit is fully automated and will choose the correct charging speed for your batterys, be they AAA or 26650 but if you are not happy with what the unit as chosen you can adjust it from a fast charge to a very slow charge thus keeping your batterys in tip top condition i often bring my batterys to near death then charge them slowly so avoiding having to buy new batteries because of memory effect, it is ready to use stright out the box plug and play so to speak very easy to use. The only problem is see is it only powers up with a C type charging cable, no mains so you will need a type 3 usb for it to handle all 8 banks comfortably, I did read most of the reviews good and bad so took out a two year insurance policy for £3.40 I get peace of mind for 2 years, but it does not cover accidents ie me spilling my brew on it. If I wake one morning and the charger ain't working they will repair or replace a small price to pay for peace of mind.

Really high quality charger
I'm no expert when it comes to battery chargers but I have owned a couple and this is without a doubt the nicest looking one I have owned and has a nice weight to it and the display is nice and easy to read. I have only had it two days and so far it charges fine with its supplied USB A to USB C cable but so far it doesn't seem to work with USB C to USB C cables which is a bit annoying as I got this to reduce clutter. It has a nice grading feature, which again is very easy to read which is great. From a novice's point of view, it charges my AA's fine and covers that side of things for me but I feel it wouldn't be a chore to increase my knowledge using this charger if I chose to.

Pricey, but decent
Seems to handle a wide variety of cells pretty well. I have found one NiMH cell it doesn't recognize properly, but it appears to have a ludicrously high internal resistance (>300mΩ) for a NiMH cell, so I can understand the controller in the unit incorrectly identifying it as an over-discharged Li-Ion. Still, it's something to watch out for: make sure it's settled on the right cell chemistry before leaving it to work! The grading functionality is slow, but seems pretty accurate, and it's nice to be able to measure things like the capacity that's been charged, and the internal resistance. I'd wondered why one of our sets of battery powered lights always seemed to run out more quickly than the others: hit the mode button while re-charging it, and mystery solved! There was the duff cell with the stupidly high resistance. My one complaint would be that it's pretty damned pricey at nearly 50 quid. It seems to be selling for 40 now, which is a more reasonable price (though still high in my opinion). But I've no complaints about the operation of the unit itself, and it's very handy that it runs off a USB-C cable.

Great Charger With Useful Functions
The charger will automatically work out the type of battery and therefore will charge it in the correct fashion for that battery. On the 1st 4 bays, there's a function to be able to see what the REAL capacity of your batteries are. Forget what's written on them, run it through this, and you get a real life reading. Spot on!

Great product
Absolutely great product. Great addition in everyone’s house. A bit expensive but hey feels sturdy and does the job. Nice display as well.

the grading function is super useful. The newer version has a more useful 12v barrel jack rather than just USB c socket -- downgrading to a three as three channels have failed in less than a year.
