Great "how to" book on paper structure engineering...
Like all of the books I have from this Publisher (Quarry, Rockport, Quarto), this is another winner! Great ideas for making basic shape structures from paper, as well as more involved and creative type projects. I don't have children, but the included techniques on making paper costumes and hats is very cool. So many projects can be inspired from gaining basic ideas and techniques herein; it gets the gears of creativity going and is a springboard of fun paper art and design. A very happy purchase and addition to my art technique library!

All Things Paper!
This book features all things made from paper! Some of my favorites include the toys like the hot air balloon or the circus animals. There are also lovely little houses that would sit well on display, or even fun costumes like a mustache, bowtie, and an assortment of different hats. What paper book wouldn't be complete without some origami-like shapes as well? For the kids, there is a fun section where you can cut out black silhouette shapes and cast them against a light to stand out at night. My favorite part is looking at the common everyday objects that were made from this simple medium. The breakfast foods like bacon and eggs with a side of coffee are hilarious, as well as the cute sushi plate. What I can see myself creating first, will be the lovely flowers that look life-like, but won't wilt away. I highly recommend this book if you are looking for a new creative way to make art from all that is paper.

Charming Paper Art
This is a book about paper art---paper cutting and paper folding, paper cake and paper circuses, paper to decorate with and paper to wear. The projects are charming. Some of the explanations are idiosyncratically translated but a little thought will make it clear what needs to be done.Unfortunately the book does not stay open very well. I tried bending its spine and that helped a little, but the center pages still want to close. You'll have to use clips or a book weight if you want to reference a certain page while working. The photography is fetching---well styled and artfully done. See samples on the Kangath Knits blog.Sundqvist tells a little about her education and creative process. She also gives valuable tips for tools and object creation. I'm looking forward to making some of the geometric figures and maybe an apple or two!Disclosure: The publisher sent Kangath a review copy of this book. Kangath was not otherwise compensated for the preceding review. All opinions expressed in the review are her own.

Paper sculpting as high art
This book is a primer on how to sculpt just about anything out of paper - costume accessories, whimsical home decor, buildings, food, even a whole circus - and just about anything else you can imagine. The author takes you step by step through basic supplies and techniques and building geometric shapes. Then she introduces the projects, complete with instructions and diagrams that can be copied onto your paper of choice. The photography and layouts are really lovely and are sure to spark your imagination. I would recommend it for the person who is a fine artist or designer, like the author, or who just wants to try their hand at creating some of these projects just for fun. Most would make great party decor, and kids are sure to delight in creating and playing with the designs. It’s printed on thick matte paper and there’s even space to sketch out your own designs. Wildly imaginative and fun.

A bit disappointing really as the paper cutting projects weren't all that exciting
