A Fine Cup of Coffee from a Fine French Press
First off, I put in a question about this press when I first got it, and got a few good answers. I want to thank those who responded. Secondly, I had never used a french press, I'd never even seen one used. My question was how to pull the plunger back up after pressing and pouring your coffee. I was just pulling on the plunger while holding the glass, and there was such a tight vacuum it felt like I was going to break the glass squeezing it so tight and yanking on the plunger. I probably should have figured it out sooner, however it took me some trial and error to figure it out. It was as simple as holding the lid down with my thumb and knuckles AND pulling the plunger up simultaneously was the key to getting it to release. I was just pulling on the plunger while gripping the glass tight, and it was really hard to do!That being said, now it is a joy to use, and the coffee flavor is very very good. Granted, I ordered some Fresh Roasted Brazil Peaberry beans so I began this process with an advantage. This press makes enough for one average 12 oz. cup of coffee. I have a small metal 1/8oz scoop and I use two scoops of coffee in this press. Then I boil some water in the Medelco 12-Cup Glass Stovetop Whistling Kettle, purchased for this purpose. I pour in about twelve oz. of water (to the top of the metal band) , and stir the coffee around to mix it with a chopstick. Letting it steep for 5 minutes works for me. I grind the coffee a bit coarser than I would for a drip coffee maker, to minimize silt at the bottom, and to give a nice smooth press process. Five minutes later I have a very fine cup of coffee. Cleaning is simple once the plunger has been removed. Just rinse both parts and set in the drainer. I put some loctite on the threads of the metal ring on the bottom of the plunger, as it kept spinning loose whenever I'd take my dish brush to it to give it a scrub. I have an espresso machine, a drip coffee maker, and now this press. I don't know if the novelty is what keeps me pressing, but so far the others have sat idle on the counter top. I love this little press. I considered buying a bigger one, but it's just me here, and I don't need to sit around all day drinking coffee, no matter how good it is. So this little guy is all I need.

Perfect for travel
I do a lot of shopping on Amazon, and this is by far the best purchase I have made. this press is small, it makes about one normal cup of coffee, but its very easy to travel with, it fits in a backpack or suitcase and takes up almost no room. I travel extensively, and coffee is hit and miss. however one thing you always have access to in any hotel in any country is hot water. also it makes a great cup of coffee, is easy to clean, and I think it may last forever. If you are looking for a small, easy to clean, and quality coffee press you cannot do better.

The small size is perfect for my one cup needs
I used this while my espresso machine was out of commission. I vastly prefer espresso styled coffee, but this was a very pleasant change. The small size is perfect for my one cup needs, and the construction seems very solid. Glass carafe handles heat very well, and the press is mostly metal, so the durability is great. The press itself comes apart, simply by holding the top "press" and unscrewing the bottom "foot" for quick and easy cleaning. The cork stand for it came a bit warped from packing, but flattened out again after I put something heavy on it for a day or two.

This is absolutely wonderful. The double filter really keeps out the coffee ...
This is absolutely wonderful. The double filter really keeps out the coffee bits, I can say I have gotten zero thus far after many uses. I had previously been using a coffee filter and there's simply a world of difference between this (fast, easy, efficient, stylish, charming) and the filter (slooooow, prone to be messy, clogs easily). I'd wager the taste is better with this one, too.My favorite thing is how easy it is to clean. The materials feel durable and high-quality, and compared to my old Bodum press coffee maker, this is straight-up better. I use a large cup and so have to fill this twice to make the appropriate amount of coffee, but it's so easy that it really doesn't bother me. I also don't like my coffee too strong, so it's a good way to dilute it.Is this a little more expensive than other similar products? Yes. Is it worth spending a little more? Absolutely.

Perfect for loose leaf teas
The French press is very beautiful with its glass body and stainless steel parts. The cork bottom is not attached to the glass and acts more as a coaster to ensure the glass does not become damaged. I use it almost daily to make tea. I usually make 10 ounces and its the perfect size for a single serving. The mesh is fine and doesn't let any leaves through. There is also a mesh at the spout as a safety to prevent any other particulate matter. I sometimes find a fine sediment at the bottom of my mugs after drinking a few cups but I have never noticed a grit while drinking. A quick rinse is usually enough to clean the plunger, but it also disassembles for easy cleaning. The size is so cute and perfect for an individual.
