Elements of Physical Hydrology Edition Unstated

You'll need adequate background in calculus and maybe a bit of physics to get anything from the book, but overall it is a very good introductory text for people coming to physical hydrology from another hard science or engineering discipline. Like most other professions, hydrology is very jargon-y, and the book does a decent job of matching words to concepts. The glossary in the back helps with that as well.I was very impressed with with section on floods. This chapter serves as an example of the overall strength of the text. It goes over the various types of hydrographs, gives plenty of definitions, shows illustrations and examples, and also goes over in minor detail, the physics involved in flooding.The book comes with a CD with problem sets as well as the full text. In general the problem sets are helpful.

The images used in the book description clearly show the second edition; however, it is not the second but the first. The seller needs to remove the second edition images. Now I have to quickly reorder the second edition for my class. Thanks for nothing!

This is a text I used when I took Hydrogeology. I liked it well enough that I have 1 - remembered it and 2 - gone out and purchased it. The information was set forward quite straight forward. Equations are easy to understand and it has a good table of contents and index. Things are also well cited.

I bought this as a new book, but I received it with dark fingerprints on the edge of the pages. It was packaged with other things (not books) so some Amazon employee was probably the one who didn't wash their hands. I know that they are overworked, especially during the holidays, but Amazon is responsible for the conditions employees must function under so that purchasers don't get damaged stuff.

Great! Technical but easy to understand book that will help you learn the fundamentals of hydrology.

still useful but the second version has essential updates. worth buying if you don't want to spend a lot
