I loved this book!

Very interested and entertaining read. I especially enjoyed that it a true story loaded with details. HIGHLY RECOMMEND to all Readers , whether or not you love horses.

Bought it for my daughter, she loves horses.

As a resident of the Mississippi Gulf Coast at the time of Hurricane Katrina and one who suffered the loss of our home, I was very interested in reading this story. I loved the horse, the family and the story. Though a sad and tragic ending, it was a good story full of redemption.

This is a true story of courage and the human spirit and the horse spirit and how the two come together to support each other and I just loved it

I read this book in two hours. Very easy read. It seemed like the author couldn't have added a few more chapters. It's a story about real people in real life that we can all identify with. A good book for all animal lovers, especially if you've ever owned a horse. Good read for horse loving teens, too.

I had the thrill of seeing Gunner in action and he really amazed me. The physical ability and awesome beauty of this horse was captivating. I never really even noticed his ears he was so good. This is a really good book and you get to know this wonderful horse better.

I wondered during Katrina, all the way out here in California, how in the heck people with livestock were managing such a catastrophic disaster, and this book answered my questions. It wasn't manageable on any level, and horrible things happened to people and horses. I couldn't put this book down, it grabbed me from the very beginning since our Hero Gunner had the same coltish bad boy personality as our three year old Morgan has now, including the one blue eye. (They aren't just for paint horses anymore!) I have also showed paints and pintos back in the day, so I related so much to the story of Gunner and his family. Gut wrenching story, and tears flowed--- An unforgetable story....

The book flows fast. It has a very unexpected ending, and the way it was abruptly terminated leaves a bit speachless... not in a good way. But the story is captivating and a good, no-nonsense flow of the real facts. Written i a very dry style, with little balance among its parts. Since it is a trues story, a photografic insert would have helped.In general, worth reading for horse passionates.

Wonderful book and story. Well written for both young adults and adults. I'm ordering the rest in the series
