This model is divine. Great details and the analog sound makes it just like a real tank engine

Seems very reliable
I have 3 Hornby locomotives that have all died on me. This Bachmann Thomas seems way better, could be because I also upgraded to a better, bigger controller as well.I wish Bachmann would come out with more of these analog sound locomotives, mine works very well and kids love the whistle.

Wish I could turn the sound off
I ordered this particular one because the eyes move and it sounds. Unfortunately, there is no option to turn the sound off. It isn't a constant sound (luckily), but every once in a while it sounds. I wish there was an option to turn it off or on. As others have mentioned, it is not a very powerful engine. However, it can pull several cars. It automatically stops running if going too long or pulling too much. It seems to be an overheating safety feature. All-in-all, I'm glad I got it. Just wish that for the the price, there were more advanced features.

This would be good for six and up
My son loves the sounds and moving eyes. This train is too delicate for his age however. I have to help him put it on the track. This would be good for six and up. It is pretty durable and life-like and I recommend it as long as you can get a transformer/circuit from Bachmann that will work more than a month with light use!

Makes a difference
The sound is great it makes my Thomas layout come alive my grandson likes it a lot.

This train never worked from the time I took it ...
This train never worked from the time I took it out of the package. I was so pissed $74 for nothing. The reason I did not return was because my nanny throw out package.

Works as advertised. The whistle sounds are just like the cartoon and my son loves thing!

Great model - so-so sound.
I'd probably buy the Thomas without sound if I had to do it again. The sounds do sound good, but they're loud (especially the chugging) and not having a way to control them is a bummer.The model itself is beautiful though, excellent detail (although the face itself is "off" somehow (as in not quite looking the way I think it should). The moving eyes are a nice touch, though,
