a few lessons learned
I've been freediving for almost 30 yrs and yet some techniques were helpful, especially for stretching and preparing the mind. I'm trying to explore focusing/relaxing techniques more; this book explains it. I've already improved my static times and hoping they will continue to help in the water. Some of the ideology is out there for me, but perspectives/ excercises are illustrated and explained really good.

This is Breath Theology
After having purchased and read several books on the many benefits of proper breathing, I was concerned this one might not be worth the high price tag. That was before I researched the author and his qualifications. He clearly knows what he's talking about and knows how to present his case. Stig advocates a holistic way of living that is centered around breathing and he lays out his philosophy and a completely methodology in this volume. If you're serious about building a life that can be lived to the fullest, this book should be one of your foundation stones.

Great book for begginers
Pro's:I've only read Part I, but 2 or 3 times. Still having difficulty with the excercises but I am slowly improving. Has anybody actually made the vegetable shakes? I bought the ingredients but afraid I might barf. They taste great cooked.Cons:In his next revision he should use "!" more judiciously (e.g. "...when you feel yourself losing consciousness, STOP!")Semi-Cons:He makes some questionable claims like, "diesel fumes kill about 21,000 people each year in the US". It may be true. Some ADD, fact-checking, readers (I know a few) might get offput be these comments and stop reading the book. Will add more after I read Part II

Breathing better already
Could do with a little more hard science to back up practical tips, but otherwise some tips I will try soon!

Superb Intro & Overview
Stig has presented a well-rounded and comprehensive presentation on the benefits of conscious breathing. I would consider this book an excellent introduction to the concepts and practices of breathing. I look forward to a more detailed follow-up with advanced information and practices pertaining to breath work. I also would appreciate more depth and insights that cover his personal experiences and methods regarding how he has become a master at breath holding.

Fantastic book buy buy buy.
If you want to learn how to free dive or just learn to hold your breath for a heck of a long time. Buy this book, in my opinion there is no better author on how to do this then Stig Severinsen. This book offers in depth descriptions on technique and also makes it very easy to understand.

Nicely written, health improving if practiced
An important book. Comprehensive. Grounded in science, takes pranayama yogic breathing system and expands on it through his personal vast experience of breath holding through freediving. Nicely written, health improving if practiced!

Viel Blabla, wenig interessantes

Very Good Book
The book was even better than expected. With easy and approachable tips and excersises which are very easy to become everyday-life habits. I strongly suggest this book to everyone-athletes, people with chronic deseases, everyone of us.

It was a long wait for the book to be shipped from abroad. It finally arrived and I was excited about owning this super expensive book about a super cool topic that I have always been fascinated about. Breathing and how you can optimize it for health, sports etc. This book however is not an easy one to read because its content is quite haphazard and repetitive. There is a lot of stuff about breathing and how it is the best thing and then there are all these exercises one must do, but somehow it doesn't hold your hand and take you through a fulfilling journey like a book should. I think Stig is a great guy. Great talent. Great energy. This book however would have been just as amazing in the hands of a better editor. I hope to return to it with a more open and inquisitive mindset and squeeze every bit of useful information there is in it.
