Vintage Guru
One of the best, if not the best guides for determining the value of a vintage guitars, banjos, mandolin, and electric guitars. My only issue with the guide is on some of the import brands they really don't list some of the instrument values such as Alvarez banjos and other imports of different instruments. The only say that the company as been producing instruments for this amount of time. Example, is Epiphone MM-70 mandolin not even listed in the guide, and it was the company's most expensive mandolin at the time of production. I just wished that the guide would go into more depth with the imports and the different models produced. Other than that a great tool to use as a guide for selling or buying vintage or newer used instruments.

The new Bible.
For years the Gruhn's guide to Vintage guitar has been a great resource to collectors and sellers alike, Then they went and changed it's format in the latest edition. I feel this book has passed that book by as the go to resource for collectors and sellers alike. Listings are in alphabetical order based on brands and a different section for each type of instrument. Electric guitars, basses, acoustics and so on. It covers various types of instruments including mandolins and banjos which i also play. It also has photos of various instruments which the Gruhn book doesn't. This can help in identifying an instrument you may have. I highly recommend it.

A good guide, not perfect.
This is kind of the "gold standard" for vintage guitar prices, but not perfect. I think it is still the best being published now though. Some models of guitars are not listed, but most are, unless they are very rare. The prices are well researched, but don't always jive with what vintage guitars are going for on Ebay. Since it is published once a year though, it is possible a vintage guitar will have a spike in price, sometimes because a famous player makes people scramble for a certain guitar. I'm sure after Jack White became popular, the price of his Airline went sky high. I don't think every price guide could be perfect though, since a near mint guitar with all the original paperwork could command a premium over the high listing.

A Good Reference Tool
This book is a good reference tool that I've used for years. Prices are pretty accurate for the most part. A little on the high side of some guitars, a little low on others, but a good guide that I use for reference when buying and selling.

Price Guide
I like and have bought the guide on and off for the last few years. My only complaint is that I wished that it was more descriptive on some of the instruments. Great book.

I read it every day!
This price magazine is really up to date prices wise. The layout makes it easy to read, as well as some of the pictures. The only bad thing is that is in black and white.

Good but get another as well
Pretty good... but odd hits and misses. For example... it has the j200 75th anniversary acoustic, but it doesnt have the same model in full size listed (the SJ200 75th anniversary). some info is just plain wrong... Jackson neck through RR Pro guitars... the info they have is just wrong, but the info in zach fjestads guide is correct.it is my normal go to, however because of the missing info, i would suggest ordering every other year and getting another priceguide in the alternate years to round things out. Good that it covers guitars, amps, basses, steels etc where others dont.

2014 Version is mostly a rehash...Brand coverage is still inconsistent.
The main title should make the word Vintage and Collectible more prominent. Except for a small number of extremely high-end "collectible" vintage guitars, the price guide is only current to 2012. And it lacks pricing information on many high-end makers that have been around for 20+ years. So unless you own an FGM (Fender, Gibson, or Martin) that is worth more than your car - or maybe your house - you will not find much new here. For many non-FGM brands, there is no recent or relevant information. For instance, Framus has been manufacturing high-end electrics for 18+ years, and there is no information at all in the guide. Only one Takamine Acoustic is rated, yet every Taylor ever made is in the book, even their lowest end offerings.I want to be able to obtain prices for my entire collection, not just my 40+ year-old old Gibsons.I know, this guide is published by Vintage Guitar magazine. But current subscribers like me know they cover much more, and expect that in what is advertised as an all-inclusive Price Guide that they would sponsor.

Price guide for guitars
A very interesting book. My only reservation would be that it is of course USA orientated but lots of interesting info to others It would be good if it covered even more Guitar companies but it is as far as it goes, it is pretty comprehensive. A good read and v well illustrated

Great for gear freaks.
A good guide for buying and selling guitars and gear on-line and drooling over guitars you would like to own. Not much coverage of small specialist guitar makers but it would mean a much bigger book to to cover them all in depth.
