So disappointed
I don't normally write reviews, but I feel compelled to write one about the Kokoon Noise Cancelling Headphones.I deal with a double whammy when it comes to trying to fall asleep: I have anxiety, and my wife is a loud snorer. I usually sleep with headphones on so I can listen to something to sooth my overactive mind — a podcast, music, guided meditation, etc. — and to drown out my wife's snores. Regular sleep headphones only get me so far, as they don't cancel out exterior noise. After doing extensive research, I came across the Kokoon headphones. I read or watched every review I could find. People had some clear issues with the headphones: They were uncomfortable for side sleepers; they easily slipped off the head; the noise canceling wasn't great; the app was buggy. But there were enough positive reviews out there, too, and I was desperate for some solution. So I took a risk, paid the $400 or so with taxes and a warranty, and hoped for the best.I should have heeded the reviews. Long story, short: The headphones weren't comfortable, but they weren't horrendous to sleep in on your side. Still, I developed a bit of neck pain due to using them. They slipped easily off my head, and every time I shifted, even slightly, they all but fell off. The app, which apparently monitors the ambient noise to set the noise canceling feature, either wouldn't load or would crash. I could never get the noise canceling to properly work; or, if it was working, it didn't work well.I gave the headphones a week, and then sent them back and got a refund.Maybe they'll work for you. I wish they worked for me. But it's back to my $25 sleep headphones and cheap silicone earplugs for me. Not a perfect solution, but better than the Kokoon headphones.

Love the headphones, hate the app
The headphones have been a blessing as I am finally able to sleep with a partner with a CPAP that has its own personality and audio input. I am a back sleeper and fortunately have been able to get used to sleeping with the headphones. They are pretty comfy. They aren't superior at noise cancellation, but with the use of the 'soundscapes' in the Kokoon app or other white noise apps or tapping into my Pandora stations, they do a good job of filtering out the offensive noises. However, they have oversold the sleep data function because the app simply will not sync the sleep data and present the nice graphics. It did intermittently on a few occasions, but has not for the past two weeks. Customer service has not been able to resolve this issue. The other major drawback is that my phone alarm did not play through the headphones, and I could sleep right through the alarm sounds from the phone...a testament to the noise cancellation ability but a major problem for me. If they fix the bugs in the app, I'll give it 5 stars!

So much more than just noise-cancelling headphones.
I'm really happy with these! Solid, sturdy construction, with earcups that are much more flush to the head than Bose QC-20s. Bluetooth pairs easily, and reconnects promptly when I turn on the headphones. The Kokoon app is intuitive and easy to use: if you're new to relaxation techniques, it starts with a handy introduction that's informative and itself relaxing, without being pedantic. I've used some of the techniques they list in the past, and still found their introductions interesting: I learned some new angles on these well-established techniques. The app is what's great about these phones, though. It summarizes my progress, and gives me the feedback I need to see how these techniques help me relax, focus, and fall asleep faster. The active noise cancelling works! And I can use my own audio from Spotify or other streaming apps, as well as from the Kokoon apps own list of nature sounds, white noise, and the like. A nice balance between giving you suggestions and letting you listen to anything you like.I'm looking forward to using these on my next flight: the battery life is good and long, the earcups soft and large enough for my bigger ears, without making me look goofy. The zipper case for the headphones is a bit larger than the case for my Bose QC-20s, but just a bit. The charging and audio cables (to connect to in-flight audio, for example) are high-quality fabric-wrapped ones.Happy with these!

Good Product - Shoddy Production
I was part of the Kickstart campaign. I would gladly give 5 stars to this product - however - its so poorly constructed . The ear pieces on my first one (the kickstarter version) snapped off one day as i took my headset off. Just - "snap" and the two ear pieces were dangling on the wires -the whole headset became useless. No problem, it can happen - so i bought another pair on Amazon- less than week later - snap... ear piece snapped off AGAIN. Same place. Ridiculous. I have older headsets - years old - I treat them in the same manner, yet lo and behold - they are still together in ONE PIECE. Again, the product is fine, but the construction is weak. A real pity.

Terrible Noise Canceling, turned off with loud beep awaking me from sleep, uncomfortable to wear.
This is a great idea which is poorly realized. To begin with, the noise cancelling is so minimal it’s hardly worth turning on. I have a $50 pair of Noise canceling headphones which are so much better (along with another more expensive model). I had to double check that the noise canceling was even on. While they look like they’d be comfortable for sleeping, the are extremely hard and rigid. Worst of all, I was awoken from a deep sleep with a loud long beep. I checked the app and it said that it was detected the headphones were off my head for a long period of time, which was not the case at all. I would strongly suggest you not purchase these as they are not comfortable, hardly cancel and noise and (at least for me) counter productive to sleeping and in fact rudely awoke me. First time I’ve returned something These wouldn’t be worth it at half the price. Be warned.
