To be updated seems very good i don’t expect plastic buckles to be everlasting we shall see
I bought this as a responsible outdoorsman you don’t wear ya knives on ya belts for obvious reasons which is why I purchased this to go at the bottom of my kit bag till needed it seems very good I wouldn’t expect too much of any plastic buckle regardless of how well they’re built it’s just how it is. I’m off to the Lake District I’m not even going to rely on the current waterproofing as I have expensive steel to do important work which when weather turns bad is a big thing so rust can’t even be a risk to me. Good news is it’s the perfect material to add a solid wax to it my only concern is the black trim it’s needed but can’t be waterproofed providing a potential access point to moisture which you all know ruins steel. I’m confident that where it houses my small knives with sheaths in its pockets that it rolls tight I don’t anticipate losing any kit which is good and important for you if you’re a chef on the circle line going to work last thing is a huge knife drop out. So I’m so far quite happy and looking forward to it performing well I don’t need it for many knives I’m also travelling with water tester tick tweezers, and it seems to want to pack it all... wish me luck

GREAT FOR LARGE OUTDOOR KNIVES AND TOOLS...BUT!!
[*FOUR & THREE-QUARTER STAR REVIEW!!* REVIEW DATE: 23-09-2024]. I first purchased this knife roll in December 2022, so I have had, and used, one long enough to give a long-term review (1 year & 9 months). I am writing this review mainly for anyone who may want to know if it will accommodate heavy duty outdoor knives or tools and be durable enough to last, but suffice to say that if you are buying it for kitchen knives then what follows should apply even more so...STRONG POINTS:1. It will hold 14 large fixed blade knives (Plus four folders, although I have not used it for that purpose) (See photos).2. It could work just as well as a heavy duty tool roll. I have just bought a 2nd one probably for this purpose (although I do need another for knives too)3. With all fourteen rolled up the buckles are strong enough to hold all in place when holding by the handle without any slippage, which I think is fairly impressive!4. The material is strong and durable and has (with the below exception) held up to heavy use over an extended period.5. If rolled up carefully there has been no damage sustained to any of my knives or their handles due to them knocking together (just make sure the flap tucks in between each knife when rolling up). I have sometimes added a cloth between each layer of knives to reduce this risk too.6. Holds knives and machetes up to 490mm OAL. I have used it for several machetes inc. Tramontina, Imacasa, Martindale, Condor and ESEE with blades up to around 14inches long. Some of these being very thick in blade & very heavy and it has managed no problem.WEAK POINT:1. As with most of the knife rolls that I have tried there is inadequate reinforcement at the seam where the knife tips need to be protected (See photos). Ultimately, you just need to make sure that you don’t push your knives too far into their slots before you roll them up, and carry the roll horizontally to prevent the knives sliding during transit, but accidents do sometimes happen, so I’d love to see this roll be reintroduced with perhaps a strip of thick leather along this seam to reduce this risk. Also, you should, if possible use tip protectors during transit (although finding good tip protectors for large outdoor knives is difficult due to the thickness of these tips).SUMMARY:This is a really good quality knife roll for outdoor knives, strong and durable enough to last for a long time if used carefully. With additional reinforcement to the seem of this roll it would be near perfect for this purpose. Regards… Puccini.
