Extremely educational
I had to purchase this for my mental health in the law class. I learned so much from this book. I have been in mental health for years and I didn’t know over half of the stuff in this book. I recommend this book to anyone that wants to learn anything about mental health and the law. There are so many things that you think just war just happens and this book tells you why it won’t happen. Like in the case Involuntary admission to a psych unit. You sent a patient to the hospital to be admitted and they don’t get admitted and you don’t know why this book will tell you why and what laws they made that make it so hard for that to actually happen. It’s not quite a light read but it’s pretty easy if you like to read about mental health

An important book: how we sent the mentally ill from asylums to jails, and what to do about it.
This was my textbook in a chorus on community mental health. It explains why so many mentally Wander our streets And live in our jails. It isn’t always an easy read. In part this is because the subject matter can be quite sad. Further some of the book is a catalog of various studies. The last chapter, which Should be rousing, sounds a bit trite. Still there’s no denying the influence of this book, and the success of many remedial efforts which followed its publication.

Smelled like a smoker…
Although the description said it just had water damage, the book smells like it was previously owned by a smoker. It actually made my hands smell like smoke. I feel like that should’ve been noted.

Actually enjoying it!
I am actually enjoying this text. Most of my college professors choose texts that are boring but I have no problem reading this one.

Great book
This book was a read for a Master's class in CJ. I must say, it was a great book and I would recommend it even outside of that purpose.
