Made fresh to order: 2 heat-sealed pouches of GROUND poppy seeds, 10 oz each.Ground Poppy Seeds can smell much more fragrant than whole poppy seeds, which have very little taste. They are tangier than the intact seeds, and shouldn't be confused with being rancid or stale. Grinding the seeds reveals their exotic flavors, which require a sweetener like sugar, honey, etc., or soaking in hot milk.Guaranteed fresh! Our poppy seed supply is less than 3 months old, originates from Spain, and has a shelf-life of 12 months. We use these same seeds in our own bakery. The seeds are lightly ground, cracked just enough to release the oils inside - you may need a magnifying glass to tell the difference! The seeds are so small to begin and may not appear ground to the naked eye. We are careful not to grind too much, however, to prevent the seeds from becoming an oily, mushy paste. We grind fresh-to-order, grinding and packaging poppy seed orders as they are shipped out.Shelf Life & StorageOnce you receive your poppy seeds, store them refrigerated or use within 5 days.Prep Suggestions For desserts, soak in hot milk for an hour, or simmer with milk, sugar, and raisins for a filling.Instead of milk, you can use water, but the fat content in milk will help the flavor as fat is a flavor carrier.

DEFINITELY NOT FRESH - NOT GROUND POPPY SEED !!!
Hey, Truly sorry, but these poppy seeds are NOT FRESH & NOT GROUND POPPY SEEDS. These are whole poppy seeds, they do not smell after poppy seeds, they do not taste like poppy seeds. I grew up with poppy seeds and I use poppy seeds frequently for baking. These poppy seeds are not worth the money. I am very sorry to write such a bad review, but I bought 2 packs (and yes I bought the freshly ground poppy seeds not whole poppy seeds) and I am very disappointed. Not to mention the waste of money.

I think it is a very good quality ground poppy seeds.
I bought it twice and both times the ground poppy seeds were great. Some reviewers are not happy, claiming it is not fresh and bitter tasting. Poppy seeds in general, have a bit of a bitter taste, and when the seeds are ground, the taste gets more pronounce, that is what so special about it. The seeds I got, were fresh, and I will buy it again, if the seller won't bring the price up.I keep the ground poppy seeds in a freezer, but not too long - I just love baking with it.

Very poorly ground
Was looking forward to this and ordered two packs. I’m a Czech expat (Czech republic is one of the world’s largest poppy producers) and this is something I used to eat all the time. But sort of hard to get in the states. Much to my dismay, despite saying “freshly ground” on the package, this is not ground at all! Most of the seeds are whole, with a little grinding dust in between. And they are old, fairly bitter. Never again.

Amazing Quality!
I have been looking all over to find someone who sells natural and freshly ground poppy seeds. (If poppy seeds aren't fresh, they can turn rancid quickly and your whole dish is ruined.) These poppy seeds were clearly freah and tasted amazing. They arrived much quicker than anticipated and were sealed really well. I already used them and the result was amazing. I can only recommend! The seller knows their product well.

Good ridance to Solo
This is the first time in decades I have seen ground poppy seeds. First thing I made was poppy seed/orange Danish and it was divine. You can't really grind poppy seeds correctly at home and the canned filling is way too sweet. It was like being in the kitchen with my great-grandmother again. The flavor is remarkable.
