I'm really glad I went with this third party lens hood - it has a bayonet mount, instead of a screw mount like so many other third party hoods.The plastic is high quality, and seems sturdy, so if my 10-18 mm lens should be bumped, or worst case scenario fall for some reason, I feel this hood would go far in preventing the glass from shattering.The hood is deep enough that it helps with flare, too, and I haven't noticed any significant vignetting.I highly recommend the use of a lens hood as protection on any lens, and you can't go wrong with this one, especially at this price.This hood has a red dot to help guide installation on your lens, and a matte black finish, matching the lens material, which I'm grateful for. I have bought third party hoods online in the past that were made of glossy plastic, and those look and feel cheap to me.Snaps into place with a satisfying click, and does not budge. Unmount by twisting counter clockwise, applying moderate pressure.The 10-18 mm is one of Canon's finest EF-S lenses, and quite possibly the best wide angle one as well. Protect that beautiful glass!A nice lens hood, like this one, just plain looks good, too.

It fits on fine, but doesn’t lock into any certain position, so you have to keep checking to make sure it doesn’t cause any vignette on the image.

Small Shade that probably does the job. When putting it on the lens, put your tongue behind top tooth on the upper left, stand tiptoe on your right foot, pray while holding your breath and in 5-10 minutes it will finally slip into place properly.

Works perfectly

I am very happy with this lens hood. Like many Canon users, I don't feel like paying the high prices for the original Canon hoods. I have used several off-brand versions on my lenses and this one works as well as any I've purchased. It fits nicely. It's a little snug right out of the box but not too snug (I have a Vello brand hood for a different lens that is so tight when reversed that I never reverse it). I'd rather have it a little snug than loose so it doesn't fall off unexpectedly.. I expect that the hood will loosen a little with use. For the money, it's a great deal!
