Helpful information from company on how to use this fine product
I bought these bags to use to replace plastic for storing produce in the refrigerator. The bags seem excellent for my purposes... sturdy and reasonable sizes. I gave them a 4 now based on quality of cloth and construction. After using them for several months, I was able to raise that evaluation to a 5. Vegetables stored in these bags stay fresh longer than in any container I've ever used...even cilantro and other delicate greens stay fresh for days longer than with other containers. The information on the website says "Great for all produce - fruits, vegetables, grains and flour. An excellent bag for storing produce in the refrigerator. When stored in a damp bag, greens stay crisp for days." But when the bags arrived, there were no detailed instructions and no information about use. After a bit of confusion because I first emailed the wrong company, I got the following helpful information from a Simple Ecology representative. I hope they can include similar information along with bags in the future. Here's what the rep said in that email:Here's how we use the muslin produce bags and why:We use the bags for shopping (dry) and when we get home we spray off the delicate greens (lettuce, basil, green beans, etc.), put them back into the bag wet, and place them in the refrigerator crisper drawers. The bag will become moist from the drops on the veggies, and this forms a humid tent around them, keeping them from wilting and drying out as fast. Sort of like the spray misters that keep veggies moist at some grocery stores. They stay crisp much longer in the moist bags. Veggies and fruit with thick skins like cucumbers, zucchini, apples don't have this issue so we just store them in the bag dry. Here's why:Modern refrigerators have a frost free feature that keeps the air inside very dry (I remember having to defrost the refrigerator :-( ). This quickly wilts delicate greens. Using plastic bags kept the moisture inside the bag so they didn't wilt as fast but also kept the gases inside that accelerates rotting, resulting in the slimy mess you find in a bag that was lost in the back of the drawer for weeks. The muslin bags keep things moist yet allow them to breath, the best of both worlds.

Works great as a bulk food bag..
To note, I don't use this as a produce bag. ( It's WAY too small to use for any produce - kales, lettuce won't even fit in the largest bag. The bags shrunk after washing. ) For smaller items, like fresh figs, apples, it may work, but not for leafy greens!I primarily use this for grains, trail mixes from the bulk food section. And it works really well.I LOVE these bags. It just has a nice, clean feel to it.On top of being 100% organic, the packaging was very ECO. Inside the Amazon box, was a single manila envelope containing the 6 bags. A small note on the front of the manila envelope requests you to reuse the envelope. ( Of course! )It had good energy. I fell in love with the bags, with this company, and ended up purchasing some other bags from here.Another plus -- these bags have a tag inside with the tare weight on it, so you don't need to keep on getting it weighed. ( Though the tags are plastic... wish the tags could have been organic fabric too! :) )Also - after hand washing them, it dries quick! After a few hours it was completely dry. Extra plus!

Good quality, easy to wash
Bought an assortment ranging from XS - XL - the XL bags are especially great for lettuces and leafy greens.I like that my produce is no longer wrapped in plastic nor does it touch the dirty conveyor belt at checkout. These can be reused multiple times and are easily washable. The only downside is that they are opaque and cashiers need to peek into each bag to see the contents. This can be a bit of a hold up, but not the end of the world. Bags made out of a netted material may be better in this case.

Perfect, and great assortment of sizes
One day I came home from the grocery store with my several handy-dandy reusable canvas grocery totes, only to realize (with some feelings of guilt) just how many little plastic bags I was using for all the small amounts of various produce (onions, garlic, ginger, cilantro, plums, etc...it adds up!). Ridiculous, I thought (insert infomercial here: "there's gotta be a better way!") Well, there is, and it's these muslin produce bags! Seriously, I love these bags - they are convenient, the three sizes are perfect for just about anything on a smaller scale (I'm not one to buy bushels of things), and they wash very well. I've even put them in the dryer on the super-low setting and took them out while still slightly damp, and they came out just like new with negligible shrinkage (albeit a bit wrinkled, but who cares?). It's convenient that the tare is printed on the bag, and my favorite grocery store, Earthfare, definitely subtracts the tare from the weight of the produce in the bag (I checked the receipt). Even if the store didn't subtract the bag, these muslin bags are very light - surprisingly lighter than the cotton mesh bags I have from this same company (which work really well for larger produce items like apples, oranges, potatoes, etc, by the way, because they allow for more stretching). Excellent product!

Durable and useful
These are very versatile. Although I keep them inside my cloth shopping bag and use them mostly for produce, I use them for other purposes as well. They are sewn well and the drawstring works well so far, even after multiple washings. I just add them to my regular wash cycle and hang to dry.I've also used them to store vegetables in the fridge. I'm thinking of getting another set or two: one set to give as a hostess gift and one set to use when giving gifts.

They don't keep produce fresh!
Unfortunately these don't work for keeping my produce fresh. I wanted to be more eco friendly but throwing out wilted, wrinkly vegetables after 3 days in these bags is just not good enough. I NEVER had fresh produce spoil this quickly before using these bags. Nothing else has changed, same fridge, same growers market. I also tried reaching out to the company to see if they could give some advice on using these bags, no one bothered to reply. What a waste of money!

MULTI-PURPOSE bag!
I have been using this as a dust bag for my purses and it's EXCELLENT; that's what I can tell you. Multi-purpose bag, durable, and easy to clean! Been using regularly for 3yrs! Recommend it!

Best produce/storage bags!
These are really high quality produce/storage bags. I have purchased many different brands and these are the nicest ones so far. No plastic in the bags or in the packaging. Really great product!

Great but you have to take care of them
These bags are wonderful. However, they are prone to developing mold and must be washed and air dried frequently.
