~~ Eek! Lost in the frozen north of Alaska! ~~
Living in Houston it is still hot! Since Abigail's dad lost his job two years ago the family hasn't traveled. How does she "go" to different places? Through books! Now it's her 11th birthday. Wishing for a snowstorm, Abigail is in for an even bigger surprise: a trip to Alaska to see the Iditarod Trail Dog Sled Race! Wow!With time before the trip, Abigail reads and reads about Alaska so once they arrive she is pretty knowledgeable. On the morning of the Iditarod Abigail goes prepared, pretending that she, herself, is going on the race. What happens that she and two boys find themselves lost in the snow? How will they survive? This is a GREAT, short chapter book teaching some important survival skills. I downloaded this book onto my Kindle. I was not required to write a review but chose to do so. Thanks, Liz

An excellent adventure
I wrote in greater detail in my review about Shipwrecked, also by Danielle Stewart. This book would be better if she were to add the statistics like she included at the end of each chapter of the other book. Storywise, it's good for boys and girls, basically ages 8 - 11. It would be a great book to read with your children, taking turns and talking about the choices made by the main characters who were about 11 themselves.

Good book with happy ending
A good book for grade school level children. This shares the importance of education, the positive aspects of finding what you are interested in and following up, regardless of others's opinions. The kids get stranded in the Alaskan wilderness and must survive a night in freezing temperatures.Who knows how? It has a happy ending.

Very fun story
I enjoyed this book, even though I didn't realize it was a children's book. It was fun and well written. I can recommend it highly for young readers.
