H2n Recorder
Very handy and records well. I had one that I got in 2019 and some of my students got used to lending it. I left it for general use and bought another one.

Absolutely great hand-held recorder.
My band just spent two weekends in a row doing some recording.Rather than use the multi-track recorder in my music room (and risk sounding too dry and piecemeal), we opted to record live in our drummer's large, open living room.I took a gamble and bought a Zoom H2n, a handheld digital microphone/recorder.I threaded-on the mic stand adapter that came with the accessory pack, set the levels, and *boom*, we began to rock and roll. The results were very impressive! The ease of use, the overall sound quality, and the handiness of the device just blows me away.I am amazed at the technology we have at our fingertips in 2015!If you want to hear the results of those recording sessions, just email or PM me, or check out my profile.(I do not believe that Amazon would want me to plug my band's website in this review.)Anyway. This is a GREAT recorder. I highly endorse it.Two thumbs up to the Zoom H2n.

Exellent
I love this thing. It's perfect for me and my needs. Whip it out. Record on the spot. Battery powered. Come directly out of your board and record. Worth every penny.

Great Recordings, Easy to Use
I am impressed with this recorder. I am an older guy who does not enjoy playing with electronic technology, so the simpler the better for me. What I can say is that within an hour of opening the box, I set up the unit and selected my preferred microphone configuration, installed and formatted the SD card, recorded myself playing a song on the guitar, converted the recording from .wav to MP3, downloaded it to my laptop, and e-mailed it to a friend. The sound quality is also much better than recordings on my phone. If I can do all that (without having to seek "technical assistance" from the wife or kids) this was definitely the right choice for me.

Easy to use and very good quality recording quality of acoustic music
Was able to get up and running immediately without looking at doc because of the various Youtube tutorials. Made a recording and posted it on Soundcloud within hours of opening box. Most of that time was spent getting my music piece up to snuff.

I returned it
It was light as a feather, not good if you're taking a recorder out. The weight is cheap. I bought the first zoom - appropriate weight. This one is so cheap. One drop and there it goes. I really don't think you're warrantee will help with that. Even the wind will brow it off a table. I bought an older model on ebay. Spent $40.

Wow!!!!
I am an amatuer performer and use this for my own recordings and rehearsals. I decided to purchase this after a friend of mind who has his own recording studio recommendation. He never owned one but said that he did a lot of reading on it and thought it to be a good purchase for the price. The first time I played a recording for him through my own stereo system, even he found it hard to believe that it was not recorded in a studio on professional equipment. This system is highly sensitive and you must record with the "Gain" setting very low. When I conduct live recordings in the surround sound mode, you can hear even the most minor movements of the audience. This is the best thing for the non-professional. In the hands of a studio professional, it is probably even more dynamic because there is no way I can utilize all of it capabilities with my limited experience.

Good all around performer with a few issues.
Update 3/23/2018 - I took away a star. Every time you change the batteries you have to update the date and time. Since you have to change the batteries every time you use the thing there is way too much button-pushing required.Second Update 3/23/2018 - Hack - The batteries are in parallel not series. If you change out the batteries one at a time the Date/Time does not require resetting. (Despite what the user guide says.) The batteries I tested with were still pretty fresh but it appears that as long as the voltage doesn't go to 0 the clock stays set.Original review: Okay, the mic works well but does have a couple of idiosyncracies. First - you just can't plug any old remote mic into the recorder. It has a setting for a powered external mic or unpowered but the recorder has to be set for this in the Input menu settings under "Plug-In Power" if you have an unpowered lapel mic and don't change that setting you will get very low volume. BUT, second - as soon as the battery level drops from 3 bars the power to the mic drops like a rock and the levels drop off to basically unuseable. So keep some fresh batteries.Otherwise the recorder is a complete workhorse. It's really easy to carry around. Sound quality is excellent. And battery life (when I don't use an unpowered mic) is good.Update 3/23/2018 - I took away a star. Every time you change the batteries you have to update the date and time. Since you have to change the batteries every time you use the thing there is way too much button-pushing required.
