Q: I am looking for a roomy personal item sized bag for flying United. Has anyone had experience with this bag as a personal item? How does it hold up?

I bought mine as a personal item for a trip. It fit my blanket, coat, tablet, snacks, phone chargers, water bottle and had plenty of room left. It fits under the seat in front of you in a plane and the top opening is convenient if you need to access it.

Q: Is the bag actually water proof/ resilient??

I would say YES to resistant...the water will roll off of it ...say in the rain...I love this bag. The size is great and I really like that it unzips at the top and you can see what is in it at a glance!!

Q: can i take this as a frontier airlines personal item?

I'm not familiar with the specifications for Frontier airlines but I just used it on a Delta Airlines trip and it fit easily under the seat in front of me. It worked very well for keeping all of my needed travel items easily accessible and organized. I highly recommend it!
