I've been a student of Six Sigma for many years. I have struggled with how to message the principles of quality we apply in business in a way that many churches can accept without immediately decrying the "worldly" mantra many churches decry when principles of exceptionalism and accountability are brought to bear.This book has captured those principles and talking points in a way that crystalizes how we should strive for exceptionalism in everything we do in church, for God and how we can use real quality principles to achieve it.The book is written in story form. It lays out a discussion between church leaders and a five star hotel general manager. As the discussion unfolds, the general manager reflects on how he maintains a five star hotel, and how churches can use those same principles. The power of this format is that it reflects real question and answer situations that can be experienced within church leadership.Each chapter summarizes the thoughts of the chapter (sometimes repeating a bit much) and includes actions to be taken by church leadership. I advise each person within the church leadership read this book, with someone facilitating the process of moving through chapters and developing a long range plan based on the principles. That is, only if you are serious about taking a long, often painful look at what your church does today with a critical eye towards moving even those things you do well to a new level of exceptionalism. The enemy of great is good-enough!

Instructions for being part of a Biblical Church

My Pastor advised our congregation, of an AME Church to all purchase and read this book, it was great advice! He was newly assigned to our church and came with lots of changes that needless to say was met with lots of opposition and drama. This book put into perspective what he is trying to do with bringing our church out of traditions that no longer work, with respect to focusing on our main objective...WINNING AS MANY SOULS TO CHRIST AS WE CAN, and meeting our spiritual needs...AMEN!! This book is not just for making your church a five star experience, but you can also apply it's principles to your workplace, developing your own business, even changes within yourself. This book is a must buy if your church is starting lose members or if your church just isn't growing.

Love this book

This book is the answer to how to make sure your ministry and/or church is relevant and serving with excellence. A Five Star is not about perfection but about serving with excellence. That is a function of attitude, love of God, and God's people. If you want to serve well, read this book and do the work.

This book was so interesting in that it was able to take corporate ideas and show biblical principles. Pastors, and leaders of all congregation sizes would benefit from the teachings in this book.

This book has changed my mind set about my service to God and to people. If truly I'm representing God, I should give nothing but the best in all areas.My team leader at church recommended that we study the book as a team. I will be using it as a training tool in my business.
