When I saw that this would transfer tape to my computer I actually squealed out loud! I ordered it so my sons could finally listen to my radio shows from back in the day when I was in college studying broadcasting. They had been asking to hear me DJ for years but I no longer had a way to play the tapes. This turned out to be even better as we were able to easily transfer the fragile tapes to my computer following the included directions. Very simple process - so, so very glad I ordered this! For those just wanting to listen to tapes as an old fashioned Walkman, it dies a great job of that and the included earbuds are nice and comfortable.

Unit has a bad motor noise (throbbing or flutter sound). Example, normally when playing over a blank spot (like the leader) of a tape, one should only hear a slight hiss. This is noticeably throbbing. (The Audicity program shows the wave form.. ) Think it may be extra sensitive to electromagnetic noise as I found one spot I could set the player on the floor where the noise was greatly diminished. Also, motor is not powerful enough to fast forward a normal pre-recorded cassette. Am returning to try another. Also am looking at a higher quality player. Cannot recommend this unit.Edit- Second unit was as bad as the first. Have returned both for different brand.

The overall quality of the recording once it got started was fine, but there was a big problem shortly after the beginning of the recording and at the end. The motor noise was overwhelming- really, really distracting from the recording. I ended up sending it back.

This is so simple and easy to use. You just plug it into the computer and it will record onto it immediately. I didn’t even have to install anything.

First of all, don't even bother installing the software that comes with the disk. If you are running Windows Vista, 7 or 8, this device will automatically show up as a USB audio input device. If you do not already know what software you would like to use to record the audio - I would suggest using Audacity. It is a free, open source audio editing program, and it works fantastic. Make sure that the tape player is plugged into the computer first, and then fire up Audacity - it will likely have all the basic settings automatically selected to allow recording from the tape player. From there, basically press the record button and start the tape player. That's just about all there is to it, but of course you should do a little reading about how to edit the file afterward in the Audacity help files or wiki.

I've had so much fun listening to old cassettes. I was able to easily convert old family cassette tapes to MP3 format. Now I can share them with my grown children and grandchildren. I also resurrected old music tapes, converted them, and can listen to them on my laptop or on my phone. It takes a little time to convert the tapes, so I just started a tape, set a timer, and went off to do something else. At the end of side 1 the Reshow player automatically reverses the direction and plays side 2 - no turning the tape over. The MP3s are the same quality as the tapes. The player came with everything advertised, including the software to get the program needed to copy and convert the tapes to other formats.

First let me say that I bought this cassette player to convert a bunch of audio books to mp3 files to put onto my iPod, so I can't address the capture quality from premium music tapes. For converting several audio books from cassette to .mp3 this player is great. It conveniently does auto reverse to play both sides making it easy to convert a complete cassette in one session.

I can't believe the price! I should've bought two at that price. Oh, it does the job perfectly!I just plugged the USB cord (that it came with) into the PC, hit play on the Arrela and record on the PC. That's it. Very easy!
