Information is just a duplicate
Don't bother buying this book if your buying "Lamps and Shades - In Metal and Art Glass" it's just smaller format and cost more. Amazon will suggest a three book group with these books together and "Easy-to-Make Arts and Crafts Lamps and Shades."

This is the exact same book as "Lamps and Shades - In Metal and Art Glass" by John Duncan Adams
This is the exact same book as "Lamps and Shades - In Metal and Art Glass" by John Duncan Adams, also available from Amazon. Apparently the copyright has expired, so anyone who wants to can reproduce this book. This Dover edition is formatted slightly smaller, so the diagrams are smaller, but it's the same book. You certainly don't need both of them.

Newbie expecting more details
I admit I'm a newbie to this but I was expecting more concerning the acquisition of materials and more content on the types of material other than measurements. .

Do not buy
Do not buy this book. If you're interested in A&C / Mission style lamps, this is not going to be helpful. I realize the paperback price is very economical, but the language is remedial and vague. There are alternate books available that will provide narrative, diagrams, and instruction you will find to be useful.

Authentic turn-of-the century Mission Designs
This book is a collection of actual Popular Mechanics magazine projects to make Mission style lamps that were originally published in the twenties. However, some techniques presented are outdated, but the daigrams for the proportions and measurements of the lamps and shades are the real jewel here. Some of the instructions are slightly vague and at times a bit hard to follow. But the measurements and proportions are what give true Mission style its appeal and elegance, and these are straight forwardly presented. For what's here, it's worth the price.
