An Indian epic come to life in graphic novel!
THE RAMAYANA is a classic Indian epic 7000 years old and told in various languages throughout India and Southeast Asia including Indonesia. The story is told from Sita's point of view, which is refreshing. Am so glad the Indian epics are being presented as graphic novels! Kudos to the author and illustrator!

Sita
I had no contact with the book as it was sent directly to nephew's inmate facility. However, he said it arrived quickly and in excellent condition. He is interested in all mythology volumes and excited to have this in his collection. The first thing he said after receiving it was, "Wow! Just wow! Absolutely love this book".

Graphic Retelling of the Ramayana
Reason for Reading: I love mythology and I love graphic novels. Hindu mythology is new to me.This is a graphic retelling of the "Ramayana", which from my best research I gather is an epic poetic text that is vital to Hinduism. Thus being epic, it is very detailed and a complicated story involving all sorts of adventures and crises, telling the story of the life of Rama, part god, part human and heir of the kingdom and that of his wife Sita, adopted daughter of a king but real daughter of a goddess. The story involves all the classic elements of mythology. Gods interfering with mortal life, a quest, a promise to keep, heroes fighting demons but most of all this myth is a romance, a love story above all else. This is also unique in that it is probably one of the most early feminist stories, where a woman gives her undying gratitude to the man she loves and who loves her back but as she realizes only second to his kingdom and she finally decides that is just not good enough, when only one of them is willing to give their life for the other.I really enjoyed the tale. It is a great example of human virtues and gives an example of a character who manages to reach perfection in each virtue. Thus giving the religion's followers both people and ideals to live up to in real life. As Hindu mythology is new to me I did find it a bit confusing at first, figuring out who was battling who, and of course the strange, hard to pronounce names were unfamiliar to a first timer. I believe there is a final moral to the tale and that would be for men to trust and respect their wives or they may no longer have them around to distrust anymore. On the other hand, the myth is certainly a romance, something not found much in the type of mythology I myself am attracted to the most. A decent, unique read, especially for those fans of fantasy romance.

No Stars for poor construction of book
I purchased this paperback edition for our school library. The story and illustrations are exciting and vibrant, however the book binding is horrible. As soon as I opened the front cover to mark the ownership and purchasing information in side the front page, it pulled right away from the cover 3/4 of the way from the top! The back page will do the same after a few checkouts. Rubber Cement would be what the bonding adhesive appears to be. Published by Campfire, I will be letting them know of this poor quality of work.

Mito indiano a fumetti
Ottima graphic novel! Consigliato!

Beautiful artwork but story... not so much
yes admittedly Sita's story is being told over and over again and you cannot actually change the story to make it interesting but you can definitely turn it towards a little more detailed or enhanced rather than the robotic and brief version usually told to the children.I felt the narration and story needed more elements to it. The story was monotone and brief to actually enjoy but yes was a pretty good attempt. Anybody who is not aware of the story of Sita, Wife of Lord ram, then yes they are in for a treat as you will get the jist of her lifeThe best thing about the book is the artwork...The illustrations are simply amazing and i was floored by the work so much that i actually want to be an apprentice under the illustrator, hoping that i can steal his talent and secretThe book literally comes to life because of the artwork..For a graphic novel, it is more graphic than novel, since story and content is not much but the artwork is beautiful, the color schemes, layout and the strokes are a treat to the eyes. Each page was frame worthy for me

I LOVED IT! First of all
I LOVED IT! First of all, I am so impressed with Amazon delivery service. I received the package in excellent condition. No wear and tear on the book. The aroma of the new book was still afresh. I skimmed through the pages quickly and must say that graphics are really good and the story telling is just as I had wanted. I bought this as a gift for my foreign friend who doesn't understand Hindi for obvious reasons but is very interested in mythology and loves to read. But I didn't want to pile them up with the whole lengthy epics in detail. I wanted to start it small. This book summarizes the great epic wonderfully enough for them to understand the gist of it. Thanks you Amazon and thank you the author and the artists.Great work!
