I bought this to replace a Hopkins brand in which the thin plastic cover for the "test" button completely deteriorated after just one season and rendered it useless, Hopkins will not respond to my request for warranty so I trashed it. No more Hopkins products for me. This item was easy to install, works quite well and given the side mounted test button (indirect sun exposure) will hopefully remain useful for years to come. NOTE: I will do an update if things should change

I added electric brakes to my 3500# trailer just for more comfort towing a SxS through the hills. I saw a review or 2 saying the battery isn’t replaceable on this thing. That is wrong. It is replaceable. However I believe you have to take the mounting screws off to get it open. And prying it open is a task. There are double sided tape foam pads keeping the battery in the space. So you have to overcome that glue/tape. But it will pop open then it’s a standard 12v breakaway battery like all the other ones. It functions perfect. I made sure to pull the pin and test that it applies the brakes. It does. I wish it had a coiled cable for the pin. I find I have to coil the cable up slightly and hold it together loosely with a zip tie so it isn’t dragging on the ground. But if the trailer did break away, it would slip through the zip tie then reach cable limit.

is good has little light to tell you is changing the battery or not . The size is little bigger then my oem trailer power box I think because the inside battery are little bigges. Overall is good . Been using for 2 months not issues.
