Beautiful knife, excellent quality, durable knife...
Excellent quality blade. I bought this one with shear intent of putting this knife through the ringers to see how it actually stood up against abuse. I had all intentions of buying another to replace this one once I was done. I took this on three weekend camping trips to use and abuse it. I cut, sawed, chopped and stabbed all kinds of stuff. It came sharp and stayed pretty sharp after all the abuse.I did, however, bend the very tip if the blade when I was digging a hole for a fire and hit a stone of some kind. I used a heavy branch to hit the back of the blade to push it through my logs I was splitting for firewood. I didn't want to use a hammer or anything metal so that I didn't cause damage to the knife on purpose. I just want to see "normal" wear and tear through use. After the couple camping trips I took the knife out and cleaned it up and inspected for damage. Other than the bent tip of the blade I described earlier there were nothing more than scratches on the blade and handle where I dropped it a couple times. The handle is made of some kind of hard plastic like I have never seen before. The blade is made of 440 stainless steel and the knife is made in China, but this is one of the more reliable knives I have owned.I planned on buying another because of the price after I messed this one up putting it through some passes. Even after 3 camping trips abusing the knife as much as I could and every chance I got... to my surprise the knife held up and even stayed pretty sharp. After cleaning it up I plan on putting it back in my pack and using it over and over again... no need to replace it.I do plan on buying 2 more of these knives to put in my other back and in my truck.I was very impressed with the sheath!!!!!!!!!!!! You might be able to tell by the picture but it is an EXCELLENT sheath. The sheath is made out of Kydex, formed to the knife, with a very nice belt loop attachment to secure to a belt (up to 1 3/4" belt). The sheath also has 9 gromets to be able to use 550 cord to attach to your gear bags. The knife locks into the sheath with a loud click and is very secure, but it comes out easily enough when drawn. The knife does not catch on the sheath and the sheath does not damage the knife (vice versa).I would definitely recommend this knife to anyone thinking about buying a good sturdy knife at a decent price. (If) the plastic handle was to ever break, one could always replace the plastic handle with 550 cord.

I like it!
Very high quality item at first impression, I have not had an opportunity to field test the knife but it comes sharp, feels good in the hand, and has a good weight. The hard shell sheath is very slim line, but offers a firm hold on the blade allowing confidence to mount or to wear externally without concerns of the blade coming loose under action. The ergonomics took me a day to decide if I liked it. The grip design forces you to grip in a very specific way, but I came to like it after a day of light use. I find it very naturally encourages you to maintain constant pressure to the cutting edge, but might be uncomfortable during alternate use. I would not use this as a brush knife or under conditions that I would have to strike with a swinging motion. Although it is a good weight and length to use in these situations, the grip ergonomics would be uncomfortable for me. I would recommend this for all normal use conditions and would buy again.

Good But Not Excellent
I bought this for my spouse because he was looking for a knife with this sort of design that wasn't extraordinary expensive. Overall he really liked it. However, the belt clip broke off of the case after he wore it for a couple of weeks. He wasn't a fan of the belt clip anyway because it is stationary (rather than a swivel). In all reality he probably would have eventually broken the clip off on purpose so he could fashion it the way he wanted to (but he hasn't actually figured out how he wants to do so yet. haha.). I wasn't a huge fan of the case in general because it is a little bulky and hard plastic like material. He didn't mind it. He was hoping that the back edge of the blade where it tapers would be sharped making it a double edge blade but it isn't. This wasn't a huge deal but was kind of a bummer. The blade that is sharpened is not excessively sharp but will certainly do the trick. The knife has a very solid, balanced feel and the sawback is definitely sturdy enough to really go at something.Overall, this is a pretty good knife, especially for its price point as similar knives he was looking at cost much much more.

Tough knife that stays sharp
I love mtech knives and the unusual shape makes this one stand out. Sheath is far superior to others ; excellent gift option too.UPDATE: Oct 2018. I've had this knife for 3 years now and bought another one for my son cause I found it to be an excellent "big job" knife. Sharp as hell and easy to resharpen, this knife is perfect in so many ways and for so many tasks. Unfortunately it's a little to heavy for me to carry while hiking but I try to pack out as close to ultralight as possible and choose a different blade. This knife gives you the satisfaction of security due to it's design and build quality. It's well balanced and the handle is comfortable. I recommend this knife over many others at this price.

Great knife. Bad handle and sheath.
Nice knife. The blade is nice holds an edge very well.Comfortable and very good price. However the handle is garbage plastic and so is the sheath.I fits nicely into the sheath and locks in nice and tight but the sheath is garbage material and the belt loop is almost pointless were it's mounted.I cut the belt loop off and mounted it to my packs shoulder strap which also was a pain because I dosent have very good mounting points. With the exception of the handle and sheath it is a great hiking knife. And for the price you can't go wrong.
