This was recommended by our hair salon for keeping our brunette hair radient and hydrated. This product in addition to the shampoo has changed the look and feel of our hair! Loving it and it works in helping my brunette hair look luxurious!

The rules are fairly simple. Use the purple shampoos to cancel out yellow tones (on blonde to light brown hair). Use the blue shampoo to cancel out orange tones (on light brown to medium brown hair). And the green to cancel out red (on dark brown hair). Always use the color wheel to figure out what you need to cancel unwanted undertones. My natural hair is dark brown but I was previously dying my grays with a Demi “chocolate brown” color with brown and red undertones. But while growing out, it was a fading into a bright reddish purple and sometimes red/orange at the demarcation line. I tried the blue and purple but they did nothing for me except make the dyed color more blackish purple and the oranges more orange. Switched to this and it definitely did the trick. Turned the demarcation line into more of a mushroom brown. And made the grays a bit darker (more like a darker steel gray) so everything is blended more naturally now. Previously the blue and purples made the grays bright white and stand out more. I am using both the shampoo and conditioner. And I love how soft they left my hair too. Smells a bit like henna or grass. Faint. Highly recommend.

My salon stylist turned me on to this product and it does work. I have very dark brown hair and when I color it if the product has any ash to it, my hair pulls red. By the time 4-5 weeks rolls around to get it colored again my hair is auburn and not the good auburn. This shampoo and conditioner keep it the dark brown every time until my next coloring.

I bought this product because I have naturally dark brown hair that was turning reddish as the hair dye I use to color the occasional gray hairs out, was fading. I had tried the "purple" types of shampoo before, but they left my hair reddish & brassy. Upon researching these types of products, I decided to try this product after I found that the "blue" shampoos are supposed to be better for removing brassy, reddish hues out of naturally dark hair. After the first wash, my hair was not darker & in fact seemed to me lightening. It took about 3 washes & conditioning treatments to see any significant change in my hair. What I noticed was that my hair no longer had the brassy tones as strongly, but it was definitely redder. Red hair is fine for those who have it, but I am a natural dark brunette & people often describe me as having reddish hair. I just eat my dark hair back. This shampoo & conditioner also left my hair feeling very dried out & not at all soft like it used to be. I ended up throwing this product away & deep conditioning my hair to bring back it's softness. In a few weeks, after giving my hair a rest from chemicals, I will color it again, with a dark brown conditioning hair color, though I had hoped to avoid that by using this product. It might work great for some people, but not for me. If it helps to know my hair type, I am a 60 year old female with very fine dark brown, but not very dark brown hair. I only dye my hair a couple times per year to remove the little bit of gray in the crown of my head & near my temples.

I am really glad I found this conditioner in that it does moisturize my hair and cause my gray dyed medium brown long hair not look quite so reddish... This is certainly a high quality product and has a "professional" smelling scent. I took away one star because it isn't the best conditioner I have ever used and it also stains the underneath of both your finger and toe nails, a brownish color. In fact I have started wearing gloves when using this product. I guess it proves that it does indeed work.

I enjoyed this shampoo but haven’t been able to purchase or find it since.

I have been using this shampoo to keep the red tones out of my dark colored hair. It works great to keep the brass tones minimized. I use the shampoo as a mask to further help with color maintenance. The shampoo smells wonderful as well.

I’ve been using Dark Envy for a couple of years. I usually buy it from my salon, but I saw it on Amazon in the larger bottle and see the value of buying it in larger quantities. I color my hair a rich brown and since I’ve been using both condition and shampoo, it has helped maintain my color longer between coloring and helps keep with toning of the red tones that come with browns. The other product in this line is the Dark Envy mask that is used weekly(make sure you wear gloves with this product as there is a dye in it). My hair feels healthy and feels like I had just been to the salon. I recommend this and the others in their line.

J'utilise les 3 produits en alternance avec les shampoings Kérastase pour améliorer ma couleur. Les reflets sont partis rapidements (2-3 utilisations), mes cheveux sont ultra doux et le parfum, quoi qu'un peu fort, est tout de même agréable.
