change my air filters every month or less depending on the air flow. Nice to purchase a box at a time to have filters on hand for when I need change out the plugged filter.

Filtrete 20x30x1, AC Furnace Air Filter, MPR 600, 6-Pack: I've used these air filters in the past, so I was surprised to see all the negative reviews, particularly about the framework being flimsy or the sizing being too small. I've had no problems with either, as they fit perfectly and are rigid enough to withstand bending or being sucked inward, causing gaps on the edges. I have a 14 yr-old, 4-ton Trane heat pump. I tried using an air filter with an MPR rating of 1000, thinking it was better because it would filter more impurities from the air. While that's true, I learned the hard way that a heat pump isn't designed to be an air cleaner. Several months later, my heat pump broke down and was blowing hot air. The repair man told me that an air filter with an MPR greater than 600 doesn't allow adequate air flow to my heat pump and may have contributed toward the condenser unit breaking down. The higher the MPR rating, the more it restricts air flow to your AC unit. LESSON LEARNED: In my case, the solution is to use an air filter with an MPR of 600 or less. If allergens are still a concern - buy a separate air cleaner - and don't expect your AC unit to work properly if it's deprived of air flow. These Filtrete air filters fit perfectly (the exact dimensions are advertised and on the box), are sturdy enough to withstand bending and are a great value. Ignore the negative reviews - I'm a 5-year repeat customer and I've always been satisfied with these air filters. Despite all the negative reviews, I give these air filters FIVE STARS.

I use these to put my cell phone in when I go out cycling. These bags are great for protecting the phone from sweat (I keep my phone in the back of my jersey's pocket). My only gripe is that, by the end of the season (3 months) the top of the bag (above the seal) falls apart, and then I can't get the bag open. If they fix that, these will be absolutely perfect.

Filtrete makes great filters and they do the job. These are a low MERV value so you can leave them in the furnace for a month or so before having to change them. They always come out dirty so I know they are working!

I wanted to order these for a third time. I bought them twice for 49.17. Now they are 86.88??? How could they double in price on Amazon?

Make sure when you are selecting a furnace filter that you do not go too high on the MERV rating. There is a tradeoff between high filtration and reduced air flow. A sheet of plywood placed in your filter slot would not allow any allergens to pass, but it also wouldn't allow any air to pass. Many furnaces come with a recommended MERV range, and if yours doesn't you can go online and there are guides for selecting the right filter based on your needs. For my house and family these are perfect for 3/4 of the year. During high pollen season we go one level up, and then back to these for the majority of the year.

I used to buy those cheaper filters but sometimes it's worth spending a bit more for the best. Breathing in clean air is worth it. I'm sticking to 3M filters for now on. I bought the MPR 600 because I don't have pets and I don't want to overwork my HVAC. So far so good.
