Samsung BD-JM51 Blu-Ray Player, Black (Renewed)

This is replacing a very old Sony Blu-ray player. I can't believe how much faster it is than the old Sony. And the picture is fantastic. The Samsung came in the original box, did not come with a HDMI cable but I had a spare. Came in looking like new, no scuffs or blemishes on it but the batteries were installed in the remote so someone had it before me. Nice remote. As far as the no indicator light to tell you when its on, it will auto shut off after it sits for a while when paused or stopped then when you turn it back on it will ask if you want to resume play where you paused. So once you're done watching a movie if you don't turn it off it will shut off on its own. I will play with this one and if it holds up in a week or so I'll order a second one for my wifes girl cave! So far I like it very much!

Rec'd certified refurbished Disc Player on 5/6/17 and it stopped working on 8/11/17. Up until this point I was quite happy with my purchase and would have recommended it to a friend. This is merely days past the 90 day warranty, unfortunately! When I load a disc and press "play", the player does not recognize that there is a disc. It momentarily flashes "loading" and then returns to showing "no Disc". What seemed a great buy has become a costly item for only 93 days of use!

After purchasing and being gifted a dozen Blu-ray discs I had to update my system and this was an excellent low dollar option that has proven to be both economically and practically an excellent buy that works fantastically was easily installed and is an excellent upgrade

Good - lacks the bells and whistles of some of the higher priced players but at the end of the day, those are just bells and whistles. I bought this to replace a 5 year old Samsung that had trouble reading discs with even the slightest scratch or blemish. The Samsung BD-JM51/BD-J5100 Blu-ray has a nice on screen interface, is fast to read discs, and plays with no issues whatsoever. I would highly recommend the wi-fi enabled if you're looking to use smart TV capabilities but otherwise a great value on a refurbished item.

We have used this Blu-Ray player for a couple weeks now. We've watched several DVD and Blu-Ray movies from Netflix with only the most imperceptible glitches. Similar results with Netflix streaming. It powers up instantly and starts streaming almost as fast. The main menu screen has everything that we use on it, so no paging through multiple screens. Superior in every way to the Sony Blu-Ray player we took out of service because it was too annoying.

I would argue that it definitely does not start up in 0.5 seconds, but overall it's fast enough and the picture is clear. I like how thin the device is; it fits between the base and screen of our flatscreen TV. There are a few too many apps and programs on the player, especially considering it must be hard-wired which is not an option for lots of people. But, the menu is easy to navigate and the remote is well-designed. Overall I'm quite happy for the price.

A few months ago I purchased a big screen and projector. I have a portable DVD player I use for camping but did not want to dig it out of our utility trailer to watch movies in our backyard. The Samsung player works great for playing Blu-ray DVD's.

It was a good player until it stopped streaming all of a sudden. I have tried resetting it, it is updated, but nothing works. It just says system time updating, try again later. It has been 4 + days and it still shows up. I can not get into the app store either. I would stay far away from this thing if you plan on streaming.
