outstanding product
I have rock hard water with a PH in the range of 8.6 . Not real fish friendly . Not to say anything about the white crust mineral build up on the glass top and rim of my aquarium . This product does as it says a non-phosphate buffer to lower ph . I tryed other products found at petsmart and wow they do work but they caused alge blooms like crazy and and made the water cloudy due to the high phosphates they contain . In my case my aquarium had been setup for sometime so I had mineral buildup badly . I started with the recomded dose , ph would drop slightly some then rebound but I kept at it , took me about 4 -5 days to go from 8.6 ph to 7.2 ph. Its been 2 weeks now and ph has been holding steady at 7.2 . I probaly should have started out using this in my water and I would have avoided some of the rebounds as all my substrate was leaching back high ph . As for water changes no big deal , I add my usal clorine remover water stuff and one third teaspoon of acid buffer to 5 gallons of water and boom , I get the right PH out of regular water . No need for expensive reverse RO units or buying bottled water . I suggest you play with this formula as different water from different locals vary greatly and have a PH test kit handy to do so . One othe point , I do have live plants and no ill effect to them or my clown loaches or angel fish , also with the size of this its less pricy then those liquid acid products so this acid buffer will do you for quite some time and is a great value .

Works perfectly. Follow instructions carefully for dosing.
Works perfectly. Follow instructions carefully for dosing. Works very well with alkaline buffer to moderate / buffer ph to exactly where YOU want it. If you don't like this product, it's probably user error. My plants and fish both thrive in my freshwater tropical tank.

Good value but comes with many caveats
The product works as mentioned, but takes a bit of practice to handle correctly. The main issue with this product is that creates a lot of CO2. If your tap's KH is high then this shouldn't be too big of a problem with initial doses, but as your KH drops from subsequent doses your water will be less able to buffer the acidity of the CO2 and even the recommended dose will cause a massive PH drop. You can get around this issue by aerating your tank and having the light on with live plants, but you will still need to be conservative with your doses once you approach your desired KH if you don't want massive PH swings.

Best additive to nuetralize the water.
Does wonders for the aquarium when adding new water to it. Best treatment we have found, and had been recommended by some experts who maintained a number of aquariums.

Works but be aware
Give it 4 stars because it actually works. But you must keep in mind that it converts Alkaline into Co2, which can makes your pH swings pretty bad, in order to bring kH back up you need to combine with Seachem Alkaline buffer, thing is when you use Alkaline buffer to increase kH, your pH also rises as well, and if you wanna bring it down, you use acid buffer in, but once again, it will bring down your kH, as the time when you get your desire pH, your kH will be 0 again! lolI used on my tap water, which kH is 5 and pH at 8 after good aeration by air stones, but I couldn't find the way how to balance my kH and my pH without sacrifice one for another. The ratio chart on the bottle is for the RO water, which I don't have.So in my opinion, if you do 100% water change or 90%, it's okay to use this product, otherwise i'd recommend to use discus buffer, although this product contains phosphate which can cause algae boom or cloudiness, but it doesn't drive your kH down which can something stress your fish or even kill your fish.
