It isn't the best i've used (my dad still has his from the '60's) but dammit, i feel like more of a man when i use it. First of all is it's weight. It demands respect when you pick it up. It has three parts, minus the razor, so it is easier to claen than those that flap open. The shave: it came with a pack of double edged razors, which were from Russia(?) but can take ANY double edged razor blade. I lathered up with Barbasol-the only canned cream for men- and set about to have an easy, close shave. No tugging or do overs with my stokes. The razor is easy to clean, and i give it a decent washin/cleaning when changing the blades. Solid construction means i'll be wielding this magnificant beast for years to come. Review: Great razor - Really impressed with this razor. Nice heft and balance, no irritation. Disregard the people talking about the handle being short. Most razors of this type have a shorter handle to make shaving easier. With these razors you only have a single blade which means more maneuvering of the razor. This is why the handle is shorter than a disposable, because you need to maintain about a 30 degree angle to get the best shave.

The 3 piece design is very sturdy and very hard to break like other cheaper brands. If you can afford the 5 razor with coating which I used to be quick and easy. The Bic disposable never liked because gets clogged to easy and have to use a cream or oil. This razor is like the art of war and timeless. Not willing to use a straight razor on myself but this is the closest you can get. The price for blades is way cheaper than disposable and takes back to a time when one would actually take time to shave while son watches. Easy to clean, can feel the blade cut the hair, smooth skin after and then a shot of after shave balm. No I'm not man enough to splash with alcohol based after shave. This is a niche and you have to realize shaving is an art. I have been to barbershops over seas where they use the straight flat exposed blade in their hand and shave me dry. I recommend the safety razor and shave after a warm shower to soften the hair and a touch of oil or cream, then wash face and a touch of balm to soften and smell like a man. Not getting into electric shavers.

Top screws off to allow replacement of blades---not like the old type where you'd turn the bottom of the razor and the top would fold open for blade replacement. It would be so easy to cut your finder(s) while replacing blades. I sent this unit back already.

Would get longer handle next time
I like that I can replace and dry the actual razor blade. I am not a fan of the length, it was a bit short but I know they sell a longer one. It takes adjusting if you're used to disposable razors. I'm still adjusting and it takes me awhile to shave compared to disposables, but I love that I'm not having to throw something away after a few uses.

Highly recommend!
So I have been wet shaving for about a couple years. Started out when I was walking around a little tourist area and found a shop with some hand made shave soaps. At the time, it was just something I did on the weekends. I bought a few other soaps, and really started to get into this. My wife went to a little local shop that had sir hare products and picked up some of their soap and shave oil for my head. My shaving experience improved immediately. The soap smells great, the oil is a much better way to go than the stuff out of an aerosol can. After doing some research and hearing all these descriptions of thick, warm lather, it seemed like I was missing out. I figured their brush should pair up with their soap, and was right. This razor is my latest purchase. It replaced a DE razor that, while it was smooth and easy on the face, it didn't shave as close as I'd expect even after a second pass. This razor, easy on the face and delivers a close, smooth shave. My shaving experience gets better with every sir hare purchase. Highly recommend not only this, but all their products!

Switch to a single blade get a better cut and save some cash!
I replaced my Gillette razors a few months ago with this bad boy. Easy to clean, easy to replace the blades, and cuts so close! It does take a little time to get the handle of it due to the single blade but I love it. I figure this will save me $140 a year over the 40 packs of multi razor heads, more blades more money. I will say this though I get 2 clean shaves with each blade (I dry shave so maybe they will last longer with some gel soap or even water) rather than 5-10 from the multi blade razors. I believe I paid $4.99 for 100 blades tho soo ya Whootwhoot!
