Perfect Garage Shelves
Really good set of shelves, and fairly easy to construct even on my own. Appreciated other reviews that suggested I wear gloves as the metal can be sharp on the corners and I would add that along with a mallet a large flathead screwdriver is a good tool to have to help bend the metal tabs back instead of using thumb power. On first inspection the heavy boxes that arrived could not have all the parts in them, but they're expertly packed. I worried that the shelves looked too thin to be up for the job, and the metal frame too flimsy to stay upright but I was wrong! The racks integrity comes when it is finally completed and then it feels very sturdy and secure. They suggest that you need only secure them to a wall if the height is greater than 2m, and these are 1.8m so at the moment I have not bothered as they seem fine, but I do plan to soon. There are other racks on the market and although these take 175Kg instead of 200Kg the price is cheaper so worth it, also I made a point of getting these are they have wide 60cm deep shelves. measure up any storage boxes you think you might use and that should help with deciding if you need these.Additionally, although the instructions do not mention it each box comes with some extra parts that allow you to secure the shelves to each other, which is helpful and saves money since I noticed these sorts of parts are available for sale.As far as tips, before you even start consider what height you will be setting each shelf at as it's not really possible to change you mind later. I went with a shelf at the very bottom (about 1cm from the ground) the next was a shallow height as I had specific boxes to store there and then I distributed the others evening, meaning the top shelf was at the very top of the rack meaning I could make the most of the space and add some light boxes on top. That said do note that the middle can't take a shelf as there is a connector that attaches the two halves of the 0.9m uprights to make it 1,8m.Talking of these, if you are building them alone I would suggest skipping the instruction to attach the two uprights and instead do this at the end once you are ready to add the shelves as that way there is less chance of bits falling and bending as I had with my first try. They slot very neatly and easily into each other and allow you to build two 90cm racks and not need a small step ladder to be working at 1.8m.One final note and that's the plastic feet, which are also added to the top of the shelves. As a result of adding these the racks are not able to be pushed perfectly flush to each other and instead leave a 5mm gap. This is not a problem for most but the space I was putting the three into was exactly 270cm which meant all three would not fit. As it's a garage and the walls are not perfectly true I got away with this by removing the feet at the top of the selves, and staggering them just a little - although I will need to cover the sharp metal tops now.Overall a really good buy, easy to build, great quality and allowed me to finally move junk and rubbish off the garage floor and up onto some shelves

Does the job
I bought this to tidy up my hallway. I’d been using a cardboard box to put the shoes in and got this to replace it. It fits 6 pairs of shoes perfectly (perfect for our everyday shoes to go in). It assembled easily- my 12 year old nephew wanted to put it together and found it easy to do. It makes my hallway look nice and tidy. Worth the price. It is strong enough for the job but is a little unsteady if you put any weight on it or moving around would need to be a bit careful for nothing to come loose (hence the 4 star for sturdiness, as fine once set up and in place, but don’t use for anything heavy and best not to move about too much unless you want to re-assemble). All in all, good price and the quality was as expected.

A pain to assemble but does the job
Even if you're a competent & proficient DIYer, assembling this unit is far from "Ikea simple". Aim to set aside around 90 mins as a starter. Slot together assembly does sound easy, but the real world experience isn't.The problem is one of getting the horizontal and vertical pieces slotted together correctly with the linking tabs lined up correctly. Once you're half way through assembly you'll realise where you went wrong with the first few pieces and have to go back and start again. Some slot in easily, whilst others require a lot of bending & persuasion with a mallet and a screwdriver, so it's not straightforward.Once the skeletal frame is assembled the whole unit is still very rickety, until you add the MDF shelves in which seem to help make the unit more rigid. What the instructions don't say is that any shelves closer than 30 cm to the shelf above will simply not fit, because there's not enough "tilt" space to angle the shelf up before knocking into home into each corner. Very annoying to have to then start moving the horizontal beams to allow enough access. Also the MDF is supplied untreated. Lots of stories of people finding mould on theirs after a short space of time, so make sure you apply 2 coats of MDF sealer to avoid later mould problems from moisture. Amazon sell a good clear MDF sealer by Rustins, which I used. Finally, I'm not sure I would trust the claims about how much weight each shelf can take, but I can tell you I have a lot of heavy bottles and heavy garden tools on mine, and they seem to do the job okay. Time will tell.So it's a slightly generous 4 stars because overall it's extremely good value for the price, and it does the job you want it to. The assembly is a real pain though, and having ordered two of these I can say the second one wasn't that much quicker to put together despite all the lessons I'd learned on the first ! Good luck.

I liked them so much I bought more!!
I thought about putting 4 ⭐️ For sturdiness, but tbh you need to make sure that you read the weight limitations and don’t exceed them. I had my first set a couple of years now and used them to store a multitude of different things/weights. Some have probably exceeded the limitation and so in fairness they have out performed. The shelves have buckled a little, but understandably so. On the look and performance I bought this combination. The units are quality and look great too. Easy to assemble. I did them myself, but probably easier with 2 if you’re following the instructions. I found an easier way to build with 1 person - worked for me.The after service has been superb! I had a cracked shelf and so contacted the seller to outline the problem. Rather than the usual ‘whole new product delivered expecting a return’ they sent me a new shelf. Prompt, courteous and professional reply with the replacement arriving in days.Superb experience on both occasions. Highly recommend.
