It seems to be an effective product for what it needs to achieve. There are just two cautions you have to take.1) Make sure this is the one you need. There is more than one style of ribbon adapters for SATA. This is the narrower option, and some devices use a wider option. For example, this will work within certain confirmed Dell models, however, it won't work on say, some of the mini PC boxes out there as many of them use a wider ribbon style. So either make sure your Dell model is listed or if you are trying to use this with something else, check the design of the cable to what you need very carefully.2) Be VERY delicate with your install of this adapter. These ribbons can damage far too easily as some others have pointed out. This isn't so much a fault of the product, as the same applies to any ribbon cable or adapter of this type. It is made to carefully be placed and then forgotten about. Not like the cables running inside or outside of a PC.That being said, this adapter does indeed work. Tested on a valid Dell model that uses this exact adapter (clearly), and it picked up the drive on the first try and has been working fine.

BEWARE! The cable smoked out the moment I turned on the power. HDD is no longer works, I tried as an external usb attachment still no luck. costly loss for a cheap product.

I was purchasing a compatible part from another seller not listed on Amazon. The part came and the part was broken when I opened the plastic envelope without any protection around the item. This came in an Amazon envelope but was in a nice small protected box that keep the item from any potential physical damage. I also think the construction of the cable is better than the OEM Dell connector. After I replaced the original torn cable with this one, the computer immediately recognized the internal SSD drive the moment I turned it on.

I bought this cable so I could put a hard drive in my laptop but as soon as I turned on my laptop one of the connections in the ribbon cable blew up. Lucky I didn't close up my laptop before testing it because it could've destroyed my laptop had I not noticed it. I would not recommend buying this cable.
