Great
This is the best sonic game I have ever played!!first off,the story is cool and it makes u want to read the real Arabian nights!and the gameplay is very complex and takes some getting used to,but when u get good at it it rocks!!and usually the party games in most games r SUPER lame, but these ones were suprisingly kinda fun.but some of them are kinda stupid and dont really work, which can result in a lot of smashed furniture:( . But My only negative for this game is that I really do agree with "slick".the music is AWFUL.it needs to be more peppy music like sonic colors, not a bunch of rock music with stupid lyrics.it needs to make u feel like ur having fun,not like ur on some mission to assassinate somebody. And as for graphics,I don't really care,do go ask somebody else's opinion. So all-in-all,this is my favorite sonic game and one of the best games overall.thanks for reading!!!! :D

Used works fine
Seems to be working just fine. I got this used in good condition (or something like that) for my sister. It seems to be working just fine. The game itself has kinda janky mechanics but she wanted it as part of the series rather than for gameplay.

On the road to recovery
Sonic is back...sort of. While this game is infinitely better than the last few attempts at Sonic in 3-D, I'm becoming more and more convinced that the furry blue hedgehog just doesn't belong in that world. It's simply too hard to combine speed and control with a "behind the hedgehog" camera. Sonic and the Secret Rings does a lot of things right. That is, this game contains more 2-D elements from the good 'ol Genesis days (ahh, remember those times?) than any 3-D version so far. Sonic's pretty much on a track and can't break free, save for a few areas where he can hit a switch or can be led along a different path. The environments are lush, the graphics look fantastic (the first Wii game that really looks "next gen," I would say), and the basic goal while playing is (most of the time) similar to the 2-D games. Collect rings, beat up enemies, go really fast, etc. However, there are some attempts to mix it up and give you "goals" to work on, such as collecting 99 rings, finishing a stage without killing an enemy, and collecting dinosaur eggs. Yes, dinosaur eggs. Depending on how well you do, you can "power up" and gain new abilities with which you can equip your hedgehog (heh, I like the sound of that: "Equip your Hedgehog!"). The abilities aren't really that impressive, and one wishes that some of them, like being able to more smoothly move left and right or accelerate more quickly, could have just been Sonic's default condition at the beginning of the game. Nevertheless, it gives the gamer something to shoot for, and that's not a bad thing. The controls, however, are a mixed bag. When moving forward, Sonic's pretty great. Like many have said, it feels fantastic to lurch the Wii-mote forward and attack enemies. Jumping takes some getting used to and is not really intuitive at all. You can do a little jump by tapping the 2 button, but if you want to make a big jump, you have to give yourself some room, hold the button down and wait for Sonic to screech to a near halt, and then let go of the button to make him leap. You will die many, many times trying to perfect this move. Furthermore, What I miss in this game is the simple ability to TURN AROUND. Sonic can't turn himself. I don't know if it's because of the fixed camera they decided to use, but if you fly past something you need (which will happen often, especially during the challenge rounds), you need to completely stop and then literally put the hedgehog in reverse. The camera doesn't assist you in this, causing you to blindly walk or jump backwards into enemies, barriers, or worst of all, off of cliffs. These camera issues, while not as bad as Sonic Adventure or the awful steaming pile that is Sonic for 360 and PS3, are the root cause of frustration many times during the game. In the old 2-D games, Sonic can turn around, move up and down, and pretty much turn in any which way without the player having to worry about losing track of where he is. As of yet the 3-D Sonic games have yet to figure out how to do this. That's why I just WISH that Sega would give up on the "total 3-D" Sonic and make one heck of a killer 2-D Sonic. Think Sonic 3 and Knuckles but ten times the size, next-gen graphics, and music like that of Sonic CD (the American OR Japanese version! I don't care!) Just imagine if Sonic singlehandedly was able to save the side-scrolling adventure from extinction on next-gen systems. He could do it. Just give him a chance! Oh, really quick: the music is of the "so bad it's good" variety, with bad 80's hair band rock ridiculously mixed with Arabian music. The story would be passable if the voices weren't so laughably bad. And, be prepared to throw up in your mouth a little bit (as another reviewer for an online games site has said) when Sonic makes a "pinky promise" with someone. Gag me with a shovel. The multiplayer part of the game is mildly entertaining, but one wishes that the programmers had spent more time on perfecting the main game than making a sorry Mario Party clone. Very long story short, if you like Sonic, buy the game. It's the closest you can yet get to the Genesis days, but still not nearly close enough.

Make-believe's reborn...
Sonic and the Secret Rings I love this game. I pirated it before, so I bought it this time to do the right thing. I played for 86 hours, and every one of those hours... ...Evil medals... ...70+ of those hours were well spent. The game has 2 modes of play, a gallery, and some minor options. Let's go ->>> ->The first mode is "Adventure Mode". Easily the most prominent, and the meat of the game. You have 6 slots to save your game. There are 8 themed levels loaded with some high-speed action, each with various challenges and layouts with the total mission count coming to 110. When playing, you can jump, charge jump, slide, brake, Homing Attack, and stomp. You collect rings, smash enemies, and overcome obstacles as usual. You can only hold a set amount of rings at once this time around, but you only lose a few when you get hit. In some levels there are 3 Fire Souls to find that do... something (I'll get to that). You collect experience at the end of every level, the amount determined by how well you did. When you get enough, you level up, increasing your ring capacity, Skill Points (getting to those too), and a certain gauge you'll get. Sonic runs forward by himself, but you can steer him, as well as brake to a halt and back up. The game's controls are odd at first (using only the horizontal Wii-Remote), but you grow into them before too long. This is also helped by the biggest gameplay feature: Skill customization. You unlock all kinds of skills by leveling up, or beating certain missions. Some of them help you control better (I love you, Quick High Step), while some change your other moves by adding bonuses or attack power to them. You have 4 Skill Rings to customize so that you can pick one with a different skill set on the fly. Each skill takes a certain amount of points to equip, so the separate rings may be essential to you. However, as I said, leveling up increases how many points you have for each ring. If you're the type who likes getting everything in a game, saddle up, you're in for a dizzying ride: Medals. All 110 missions give you the opportunity get bronze, silver, and gold medals. Or no medal, but you know, eww. These medals represent how fast you beat a level, and many golds, even silvers, require you to come back much later after you've gotten better moves. It'll seem easy enough at first, but make no mistake, getting all 110 gold medals is a monumental task that you'll be pulling off by the skin of your teeth. One more thing, and this is crucial: NOTHING MATTERS EXCEPT PURE SPEED WHEN GETTING MEDALS. I wasted my life trying to play the game almost perfectly each time for over half of these medals before I found that out (I'm awesome because of it, but still). You can take all the damage you want if you get to the goal on time. Your EXP at the end will be impacted, but if you were fast enough you'll still get your medal. Now on to platinum medals... Naw, I'm kidding. The game isn't satanic, after all. ->On to "Party Mode". This is the multiplayer aspect of the game, meant for a total of 4 players, though it can be played alone with CPUs in place of other people. Playable by 8 characters, it has 6 overarching game types, known as "attractions", and 40 total mini-games. It of course also has a "World Library" for you to just play mini-games. The attractions are like board games of their own, while the mini-games act to decide how the game is played. For example, in "Treasure Hunt" the aim is to find 3 of the many treasures hidden in chests all across the board before your opponents do. Before every round, you all play a mini-game for a chance at 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th place. Whoever comes in 1st goes first and gets the most spaces to move, and so on. All the mini-games require a Wii-Remote for each player, and no Nunchuk. You hold it in various positions depending on what game you're playing. Quality-wise, they're kind of hit and miss. Of these characters, attractions, and mini-games, some need to be unlocked with something I mentioned above, so don't forget about Adventure mode. ->To the "Special Book". This here is a massive collection menu of art, history, movies, BGMs, and STUFF. I'm not gonna tell you how to get anything there, because once you see it start to fill up, you're going to go find out yourself. ->And the "Options"... Ahem. Options. You've got language options for the text and voice separately. You can change between normal (4:3) or wide-screen (16:9) displays. You've got sound output options. You can delete your data here. I can honestly say that this is one of my favorite games ever, what with the crazy fast Sonic flair and progression that keeps you playing. It can be furiously cheap sometimes (Hello, Pirate Storm.), but mostly it's tame enough for you to feel like trying over and over again instead of launching your controller through your TV, the wall behind it, the poor non-ultimate life-forms in the way, and eventually out the reach of gravity and into cold, black space. Mostly. Regardless, all the aesthetics are there: The Sonic franchise's trademark kick-@$$ music, the art style both in gameplay and in cutscenes, and the graphics (Remember this was 2007). The voice acting is really divisive for most people, and while I think it's OK for the most part, I can see why someone wouldn't like it. I can only summarize so much, people, so platformers, daredevils, completionists, and Sonic fans, you ought to pick this game up. --"Seven seas in hand Speed of sound through sand All our hopes and plans In on single hand" --Steve Conte and runblebee

This is a great game! My kids love the party game (which is similar to Mario Party) and is simple to use (even for my six year old). Hours of great fun!

A good and creative story. But not one of Sonic’s strong outings in terms of gameplay
