THOR BY JASON AARON: THE COMPLETE COLLECTION VOL. 2

I have Jason Aaron’s work on Thor for a couple of years now. I really like Aaron’s work because I don’t know where he is going.

The book was in great shape. Very happy with it

I should begin this review by saying that I read this collection without having read anything from the preceding volume, so it's possible that I would have enjoyed it more if I'd had more context.I've long been a fan of the character of Thor, though I've often found that the Thor comic itself is very hit and miss. This is a problem with a lot of comics. Sometimes a great creative team takes over a book and it's amazing and other times the creative team isn't as strong or is just trying to do something that isn't to your liking. After reading Aaron's run on Doctor Strange, I was curious what his work on Thor was like and, since this was the only volume available at my local comic shop at the time, I picked it up.Though I really liked some of the ideas here - Thor caring about the environment is great, as is the mysterious female now wielding Thor's hammer - I felt like the stories just didn't quite work. Thor waging war against an oil company seemed oddly petty for him, especially considering how Aaron tells other stories that are incredibly grand in their scope. I was also mystified as to why Odin, who is normally portrayed as both wise and patient, has suddenly become a hot-headed jackass. I also did not like the story about Broxton, Oklahoma, which seemed rushed and the villain's plot seemed too unbelievable, even in a comic book about gods (I don't care how rich he is, there's still a whole town full of people who'd be out there talking to NPR about how everything he's saying is BS).But there's also a lot of potential here. Even though I dropped into his run in the middle of it, it's clear that Aaron has big story in mind and is slow-burning the build up very adeptly. And, though the artists vary throughout the collection, it's all quite good.Obviously, based on the other reviews A LOT of people love this book, so you might too. And it's not that I disliked it, I just didn't like it very much.

Virtue signalling garbage. An attempt to make Thor weak. Some real simp white knight trash. Read the original prose edda for some goo Thor stories. This is typical SJW garbage.
