Probably the last book on motors you'll ever buy
I had read a lot of good reviews about this book but upon browsing through it, I quickly saw that none of the reviews did this book justice. This is an EXTREMELY thorough exposition on motors, probably containing more information than you'll ever need or want. What's even better is that it's written in an easy to understand format filled with colorful illuststrations. I can't recommend it enough.

This text book was a third the price as at my school so i figured why not and it was delivered by the next week.

Cheaper then the book store
Way better then buying it at the bookstore, only complaint is there is a lot written in the book by the previous owner. However it does not cover up any of the words so it is still completely readable.

USED book sold as NEW
Bought the book back in April for a class that starts in March because it was a good deal and only one left in stock. I started the class last week (5/13) and am working ahead and am finding most of the later chapters are underlined. If I was ok with that I would have bought a used book for a third of the price...

Beautiful Pictures but Poor Explanations
This book has beautiful illustrations but very poor written explanations. For example, their discusssion of how three phase current creates magnetic fields that cause a motor to rotate is so sketchy that it explains nothing. On the other hand the text spends too much space going over the obvious such as nameplate data (and even here they make a mistake - giving an incorrect explanation of what the different ampere values mean). In addition there is no real mathematics, everything is described in outline with occasional simple arithmetic - for example how can they talk about torque and not have the formula relating torque to rotor current & stator magnetic flux? I could go on and on, but you get the idea. If you want to really learn about motors you need to go elsewhere.

Very easy to read
I bought this book to learn about the motors I use at work. It is full of information that is easy to understand without being dumbed down to the point I feel like an idiot trying to read it. I would definitely recommend getting this if you want to get a good understanding of how electric motors work.
