Daruma Otoshi Japanese Traditional Toy (7inch)

To me buying this toy is like buying a set of jacks. Do you like the idea of playing jacks? Then you'll like the jacks you purchased. Similarly, I imagine this would get a 5-star review every time unless the hammer breaks (which you could always glue back together). If unsure how the game is played, look up videos for "daruma otoshi". We bought the 9-inch, it is well made and hammer has held up so far. We bought it to complement a social studies unit on Japan and the kids have had a lot of fun with it. We also created a harder version where you roll a die, then count up that many discs from the bottom to determine which disc you need to knock out. Much more challenging than always hitting the bottom disc and thus more engaging/rewarding for the older kids.

Love this product, it's a lot of fun. If you're having trouble actually winning the game try to play on another table surface, the surface type actually really changes the game. A LOT of fun though!
