Unlock Your Amazing Memory: The Fun Guide That Shows Grades 5 to 8 How to Remember Better and Make School Easier

Unlocking Memory by Zupp
This is a great little book (98 pp.), power-packed with excellent ideas and memory techniques. As the title indicates, it is focused on passwords, helping readers to develop their own memorable passwords as well as to memorize system-generated passwords. But it clearly presents and illustrates memory techniques applicable to all areas that someone might want to remember. It would be particularly useful for folks just getting into memory techniques, but it is a good review with new ideas for those who have been using them awhile.Classic techniques discussed include using images/mental pictures, linking the images, substituting images for numbers, letters, and symbols, and memory palaces. Images should make use of CAST: color, action, size, and taste/touch/texture to enhance memorability. Some new ideas I hadn’t seen before include using an anchor image to connect the password with its related website and suggesting images for various symbols (such as the '@' symbol, the exclamation mark, the ampersand, etc.).

An Imagnitive, Creative, Fun way to Learn.
I got this book for my son who doesn't remember well. He is reading it over his Christmas break so he can implement it when he goes back to school. He is only on chapter 6 but what I've read with him was as described in heading. I look forward to seeing the results he gets on his test in school.

Amazing, as the title suggests
Amazing, as the title suggests, how can one not find it a genius discovery. It is not only a tool for school ages, it goes beyond as a tool for all who are interested in improving their memory, perhaps not thought of until reading this book.

An amazing resource for the whole family!
I read this book to my 7-year-old second grader. She embraced it and we had so much fun. She knows the capital of Arkansas is Little Rock! She loves to say "Addis Ababa!" (The capital of Ethiopia) She made up a story where a singer named Addis sings a song with the words "Ababa." She laughs every time. When I asked her what Alaska sounds like she said, "I'll ask ya," and we came up with a funny story where she asks her friend to play Juno (the card game). Voila... the capital of Alaska is Juneau. She has learning disabilities, and the creativeness of the techniques really clicked with her. We've used songs and simpler memory techniques before, but the clear steps in this book take learning to a whole new level. My advanced fifth grader also learned a lot from the techniques, and they have become the new standard in our household. Highly recommend.
