Fine Guitarist and Fine man.
Wes Montgomery was one of my favorites, I loved his beautiful octave playing along with his wonderful jazz improvisations. I know he took a lot of heat for being commercial, but he was a family man and wanted to be able to support his wife and large family. A man has to do what a man has to do and he did it to the end of his life. His lovely wife Serene passed away earlier this year at 96 years of age, she I know inspired him. This book fills in some gaps of my knowledge of Wes, I only wish he could have lived longer.

Filled with rare and valuable details
There's simply not a lot of info out there about Wes. The book does a better job than any I've found at giving information about Wes's upbringing, his life, and especially his rig. I would say only get this book if you're a die-hard Wes fan. Otherwise, you'd be better off with a coffee table book or something with big pictures and the same information that you can find on Wikipedia.

The mind of a legend
Wes had an incredible jazz vocabulary! This book gives us peep into how his mind worked, musically that is. That's a fascinating endeavor!

Good, but redundant at times.
This book is wonderful, but it tended to get redundant after awhile. Still, it is a great book about one of my biggest musical influences. I loved the “guitaristically speaking” chapter.

Interesting but very short
This biography is a quick read but does have its moments. As far as information on Wes goes this does provide the reader with most of the known facts, however there are only about 50 pages dedicated to his life (with the rest being dedicated to quotes and his technique). If you're looking for a good jazz biography I would instead suggest reading Herbie Hancock's, Bill Evans' or Miles Davis'.

Not Score Format
What I recieved is not in score format. It reads : "Wes Montgomery Artist Transcriptions for guitar". Possible mis-ship? Maybe so. This is standard notation for the guitar part only with chord symbols. There is also a miss print on page 87 with the last 7 bars of melody coming late; after 7 bars of solo. That being said it's a great resource.
