For Cotton Swab: Actually there is no need to replacement if the cotton swab and the whole humidifier works well. We sent the free-gift cottton swabs in the package in the purpose that occassionally the cotton swabs cannot fits the ultrasonic mechanism well the device would not work so it needs replacing. And sometimes some clients add TOO MUCH oil essential(but not the suggested drops of essential) which would shorten the cotton swabs' lifetime so we sent you the free-gift swabs to keep you a pleasant using experience. If the cottons swabs works well and you use the humidifier often, basically no need to change it within 4-6 months.
