Light support & smoothing for 3x/4x pear/hourglass shapes
I wanted to post an initial review in case anyone like me has events this weekend and is considering buying this. TL; Dr: these shaper shorts are great if you're looking for light compression/support and some smoothing. As a tall plus size woman (5'11", 310lbs, 50-46-56, usually wear a 3x/4x), this item suits my needs to look a bit smoother under clingy dresses, prevent thigh chafing, and provide some abdominal compression for POTS symptoms relief. I have my highschool reunion this weekend and will be wearing a bodycon dress, so I wanted some shaper shorts that would smooth me out a bit without being uncomfortable. The mixed reviews on this item scared me a bit, but so far I'm glad I took a chance. I've been wearing them to work the past couple of days to test them out in case I needed to switch sizes or to another brand. These shaper shorts are surprisingly comfortable for having a decent amount of light-modedate compression. While I'm tall, I'm also quite short-waisted with a long hip/pelvis, and carry most of my weight in my stomach, butt, and upper thighs. The waistband comes all the way up to my bra line, but so far has not rolled down thanks to the fabric quality and small stays strategically placed. The legs are also a great length to not roll on my thick thighs - I'm easily able to adjust them higher or lower depending on the length of my skirt. The fabric is fairly breathable and soft, doesn't irritate my sensitive skin. Other than the very top of the waistband, I can't feel them on after a bit. I'm glad I went with the 4x instead of the 3x. My measurements were on the low end of the 4x, and I decided to opt for comfort over stronger compression. The shorts are quite stretchy, and I imagine someone several inches bigger than me could comfortably wear them. The shorts washed fine in a laundry bag on delicate cycle and didn't shrink too much. I can't speak to their long-term durability and performance, but I will update this review after my events with pictures and final thoughts. Overall, I definitely can recommend these to others looking for similar qualities in shaper shorts. I hope this review helps other tall plus size women as I know how hard it is to find comfortable, flattering clothing for us.

They're ok
The shorts are comfortable and match my skin well. They do show thru clothes meaning you can see the line of the shorts on my thigh in dresses or pants I wear over them. They don't roll up or down, which is good. They don't shrink your waist. They moreso give you a smoother silhouette, keep thighs from chafing. Stretchy and comfortable, not constricting.

Possible Merchant Error
Lots of the reviews described the product being too big when ordering the size according to the chart. The shorts fit, but they didn't really provide the support expected. On the advice of a few, I purchased a size xs/s instead of m/l like I normally do. When I looked at the shorts, I thought there was no way that I was going to be able to fit my skinny-squishy 165lb body in those itty-bitty things. But I did. And without much effort at all. They're tight, but they're not snatching my waist like they're supposed to. Everything is smoothed out. No bulges. And I can breathe, but it didn't shape my stomach. My stomach is still pooching out like it did before. There's just smooth flub-blub now instead of multiple flub-blubs and no muffin top (which is nice). I sat down on the bed to see if it was possible to still breathe (it was) and I looked at the package. On the back of the package it says "Plus-size black small" and it now makes sense why I am able to wear it. I'm 5'11. 165lbs. All of my weight is in my stomach, hips, and thighs. I wear a size 10-12 in jeans. Plus-sized clothing is made specifically to accommodate a body type that is beautifully voluptuous. Plus-sized clothing is labeled "16W" or "16 curvy" fur example. The W or curvy indicating that it will fit a fuller figured individual. I know there's not a small in plus-size, but I think I've figured it out nonetheless: I have a friend that wears a size 14 curvy which is another way to tell the shopper that this product is constructed differently from a size 14 regular. The curvy or the W are constructed in a way that allows a fuller figure to settle comfortably unlike the regular that would be far too tight and constricting in the waiste, knees, and calves. Anyway... I checked on Amazon and found a plus-size Shapermint, high waisted shaper shorts that can be purchased in size S-3xl. These shorts are made like the curvy or W to accommodate curves that a woman who wore a regular small would not have. I believe the seller may have accidentally shipped a plus-sized garment when the purchaser wanted a regular rather than plus. And I think that this is why some buyers are talking about sizing down while others are describing being swallowed by a boa constrictor and not being able to breathe, or move, or sit. Maybe if I had a regular small then I'd be complaining about that, too because, trust me, I may be skinny-squishy but I haven't been able to fit into a small anything since 9th grade. And that was 32 years ago. 🤷♀️

Best shapewear ever!
This is the absolute best shapewear I've ever purchased! It's comfortable and doesn't bunch up. It stays in place all day and I honestly forgot I was wearing it. I wasn't sure it was going to fit when I took it out of the package, but I would say it runs true to size (I bought a 4x and I'm a size 24). It even washed up perfectly. I will be purchasing one in beige. Highly recommend!

Perfect Fit! Stays in Place!
This fits and feels like a dream. The support is enough that it doesn't feel like it is taking my breath away when I sit. The top of the wear has a bit of rubber in places besides the elastic in the waist so the top does not roll down or move. As well as the bottom hem on the legs does not roll up either. The only thing I wish it had was a cotton/panty type liner in the crotch as I am wearing this for compression after abdominal surgery and I am wearing panties under it. I have the nude color and works perfectly for me and will be buying another one. Oh and it washes and dries well without getting out of shape!

Best shapewear I've bought in a long time
I needed new shapewear but did not want to pay a lot for it. The reviews of this pair of Shapermint shorts were good and the price was right, so I gave it a try. AWESOME! So comfortable, holds me in in all the places I need and I can wear these all day with no discomfort. I would not mind some more compression on the tummy but I am not sure I want to size down for it and risk them not fitting. I am 5'3", 180 lbs and got the XL - XXL. I am going to buy another pair!

Holy Misery - Death Shapers!
Dear lord have mercy these are not for short folk. I thought surely my ribs would crack or I'd pass out from oxygen deprivation. Now before you say I must have purchased the wrong size, I purchased one of these in my size, another one size up because I don't trust anything I can't try on and my success at online shopping has been very hit or miss. The result was the same in either pair, so this is not about sizing. The first thing to know I am 5'4 and purchased these for a little shaping in the hips and stomach. I did not know I was also purchasing a torture device! As I rolled that first pair up over my thighs I thought, hmm firm, and up over the belly, really firm. I kept rolling, and rolling, and rolling. Where do these things end! Now I'm getting real close to some delicates that sit well enough above my stomach that they should not be impacted, special things I don't want flattened out. Wrong! So now I have two options I can cover my upper delicates and flatten those out too, hello 5'4 extra thick board! Or I can stop unrolling these things, fold them down a bit, because an extra bulky ridge anywhere is exactly what I was looking for......I chose to fold them down a bit because flat wide board wasn't the look I was going for. Let me tell you, I chose wrong. The fabric these are made from is strong and the waistband on these are very, very strong. Now that's three very strongs right there all rolled into one, directly under my ta-ta's, coiled around my body like a starved boa constrictor that just wanted me to die! Added to that, there's still all that really strong fabric I assume was intended to cover the stomach of a giantess crushing my ribcage.....I...could...not...breathe....world...spinning....lights dimming.....HEEEELP! Now before you say you should never fold them down; you are right and I know this. But these things are never ending. It's not trying to squeeze yourself into a pair of hosiery that's just too small, where you pull and stretch and suck it in the make them stretch up to your waist. Nooo, no no no, these things are not those things, these things are just designed for someone at least 7 ft tall with a stomach waist area the length of my entire upper body. Trust me I considered user error, rolled them off and back on again and just stopped that waistband right at my waist which was about as effective as well I don't even know because it was not effective at all, but it was bulky. Moving along to the next pair, I have no idea what I was thinking, because this pair was no better. I did everything in my power to not pull or stretch them in any way. Just thrust one chubby thigh in after the other and then pretended I was a weeble wobble. A little shake and shimmy, A wiggle, a weeble and a wobble and I'm in! I gently eased that fabric covered super strength boa constrictor waist into place just above my natural waist and definitely below my ladies on high. Now I'm still breathing but they felt very heavy in the stomach area, almost as if there was just too much fabric piled on my stomach and I could have pulled them much, much further up. I also immediately noticed my stomach was definitely being "shaped". It was a very weird feeling. I felt like I was sucking in my stomach but also had a pile of concrete blocks pushing my stomach further in well past any average "sucking in" . Suddenly I was standing very straight, like a soldier at attention. I could not relax my stance, I tried. As the web of murder continued to exert all the forces of the universe on my stomach, all the body mass had to go somewhere, and it went up! I am fairly certain one of my kidneys just popped right on up under my ribs. What was that pain pressing against my spine? Well, that was the rest of my internal organs all pressing back and up, against my spinal column and under my ribs. All this pressure and upward movement of body mass and organs was making it difficult to breathe; short breaths, short breaths......I couldn't stand at attention any longer, so as my organs continued to shift, I slowly sat down. Have you ever tried to sit while part of your body is wrapped in a body cast? Me neither until right then. Now I am sitting there, straight as a board, my stomach continuing to cave in, my refugee organs pressing further and further into the space previously occupied by my lungs making breathing more difficult by the second. This was not working out, I had to get out of this torture device, I needed to breathe! Seriously, I needed oxygen....to live. And so, with every intention of rolling the death shapers off my body, I stood up and that is all I remember. I woke up on the floor with my husband kneeling over me, scissors in hand, a fresh red welt clearly visible. Apparently, he was unable to work his stubby fingers under the boa constrictor waistband and did the next best thing; he cut that medieval death shaper from the thigh up. When the scissors finally chewed through the waistband, that angry snake band decided it was not going down without a fight, snapped back and gave the poor man a welt. Ladies, if you’re tall, into BDMS or torture, you might like these. If you want to test your pain tolerance or endurance, these are for you. If like me, you prefer the security of knowing all your internal organs are in their designated spaces, move along to the next product. If you are short, move along. Lastly if breathing is not relevant to you have at these, for the rest of you, if you like breathing as much as I do, just keep scrolling, these are not for you or me.
