An eclectic compilation of quotes on every type of love--perfect for gift-giving or just to keep close for inspiration
Perfect for Valentine's Day, Mother's Day, birthdays, or just days to say "I love you," which really is any day, this collection of quotes--some tender, some hilarious, and some just spot-on--is sure to be a crowd-pleaser. I love how the quotes aren't saccharine and try too hard to make love look like a beautiful, ethereal thing; Words of Love shows the ugly and the difficult--often in sardonic and humorous ways--which strengthens the value and worthiness of love all the more. The negative light shined on foolish first loves and on marriage is amusing--it doesn't deceive us further into thinking everything about love is wondrous, and it keeps the book grounded. There are way too many analogies that I tired of after a while. It seems like people have a penchant for comparing love to random things, e.g. "Love doesn't just sit there, like a stone; it has to be made, like bread, remade all the time, made new." If we're comparing loves to stones and bread, we might as well compare it to pencils ("Love is like a pencil; it always has to be sharpened and used") or bookshelves ("Love is like a bookshelf; it has to be filled or else your life will feel hollow and empty") or kiwis ("Love is as sweet and as sour as kiwifruit"). Some of them were just ridiculous.I can't say I was highly touched by this book, but skimming through the quotes with a loved one is definitely a fun, meaningful way to spend time.Pros: Vast array of different kinds of quotes // Witty, touching, and inspiring all at once // Doesn't idealize love // Well-organized into different categories, such as First Love, Romantic Love, and A Mother's Love that make it easy to find quotesCons: Some repetitive quotes // Overdone on analogiesVerdict: As wise at it is wonderful, Allen Klein's pocket-sized Words of Love will capture your heart and bring you back to your first kiss, first touch, and first time. This eclectic compilation of quotes on every type of love--defining love, falling in love, first love, romantic love, loving couples, motherly love, self-love, physical affection, the overbearing power of love, and unconditional love--is perfect for gift-giving or just to keep close for inspiration. Add this one to your bookshelf!7 out of 10 hearts (4 stars): Not perfect, but overall enjoyable.Source: Won from publisher for Valentine's Day contest.

A Gift of Love
What a wonderful, attractive book of quotes, or is it quotations? I guess as a gift it would be a 'gift of love,' literally as well as figuratively. I can imagine--the book is new--using it for daily inspiration as well as a tag line for a message of love to anyone. Actually, the first quote in the book is quite profound, "Love doesn't make the world go 'round. Love is what makes the ride worthwhile." By Franklin P. Jones, someone I have never heard of before. Which is another point; while many quotes are from famous people such as Gandhi, Marlene Dietrich, Barbara Bush, Albert Camus, Brad Pitt, Victor Hugo, Albert Einstein, and Socrates, they are also from obscure and regular people as well. Organized into different types of love such as "Mother Love," "What is Love," "Romantic Love,' "Loving Yourself" and "Unconditional Love," among others, you can find quotes to address most aspects of that broad and special concept, love. I highly recommend it.

A pleasure and a treasure!
Allen Klein has written yet another wonderful book, and the subject of love makes this even more special. It's smart, elegant, and affecting. This is a perfect gift book. I can hardly think of an occasion for which it wouldn't be a good fit. It's also a great book for a nightstand, to glance at for evening and/or morning inspiration. Or to keep in a desk at work for "those" days. Or anyplace within reach.I love the quality of the book ... it has a nice "hand," and the dark blue text is pleasing to the eye. My compliments to the publisher (Viva Editions) for adding an index, an increasingly uncommon element in books, and a nice addition here. The chapter titles (not a spoiler!!) are names of songs, with the last chapter titled All you Need is Love. I'd add that all you need is Words of Love to get In the Mood to have Just What (I) Needed, because What the World Needs Now ... really, we can all support love (in it's many splendid forms), and this book makes the process easier!Correction, Amazon: Godek wrote the Foreward, as noted above, and is not the coauthor, as noted on the previous page.

Delightful and fun!
They say that love makes the world go round. That may be true, but I can't see how it could function without this wonderful gift book. Some of it you may have heard before; some not. However, this is all of it put together in a delightful and fun way.The perfect gift not only for Valentine's Day but also to give to anyone you love on birthdays, anniversaries ... or just to simply say, "I Love You" any day of the year.

Touching, Tender and Terrific
This compendium of love quotes would make the perfect gift for Valentine's Day, Mother's Day, Father's Day, a birthday or frankly, any day. From Einstein to Emerson, Charles Schulz to William Shakespeare - everyone has something to say about love. There isn't a person on the planet who is too smart, sophisticated, wealthy or wise to escape it's powerful grip. For love we're willing to be vulnerable, foolish, tender, passionate, magnanimous and more. Klein covers all the bases from first love, to mother's love to mature love steeped in years of wedlock. The author has done a terrific job of gathering viewpoints which span the centuries and reflect all generations. It's a great resource whether you're making a toast, texting a beloved, or simply nurturing your own soul. This book will become part of my permanent library.
