The Tenth Island: Finding Joy, Beauty, and Unexpected Love in the Azores

Great read
The Azores have been on my to do list for twenty years or more so I was instantly attracted to this book; I had no idea that there were enclaves of azorians in California and other parts. This story of those people and their annual pilgrimages back home is so insightful and the descriptions of the life and recent history of the islands so interesting - I am even more determined to go now, Diana Marcum’s love of them is infectious.

A Travel Blog
I picked this book because it sounded a bit different and I wasn't wrong but I wasn't looking for a travel write-up or advertisement either. Long pages full of wondrous descriptions of the Azores but very little story. To me it doesn't flow smoothly and what's up with the non-ending?

Delightful book
I loved this book. It is an authentic account of discovery and adventure. Warts and all. I will return to it , to savor the lovely descriptions and wonderful people. I can see it becoming a rainy day book that will warm me up and brighten my life when everything else is gloomy. Thank you and I look forward to reading many more books by Diana Marcum

A book to get lost in.
A Quirky book but bringing alive a little explored place. Not a travellog but more a trip through life. I have read several self help books that don’t get you thinking as much as this book. Wanted it to continue for ever.

A romp of discovery
So much of our 21st century lives are caught up in the frenzy of busy-ness. This story teaches that there is more to be learned from being still and mindful of the beauty and power of nature, and to build an appreciation of family and friends.

Journalist on a Journey of Self Discovery
I am only halfway through this. Amazon you are too quick asking for book reviews. It is an unusual story, not my usual taste but am quite enjoying it. It will not become a favourite so not one I will read again.

Repetitive
I read this from cover to cover. There seemed to be one story after another about bull festivals and immigrants who left the islands to go to USA and then come back for visits. Disjointed writing. Not a good read.
