Why did you pick this product vs others?:I really liked this product as kept my cut onion well sealed and fresh. Unfortunately, just a little over two month, the silicone ripped making the product useless. Half of a medium size sweet onion with no pointy features had been in it.

Came quickly and was as stated.

Update Oct 26: I still love my lemon keeper. Maybe recent poor reviews is because of a recent manufacturing issue? The only problem I have is that if it isn’t kept level the juice will drip out, but who ever said “oh no! My lemon is too fresh and juicy too darn long!” 🤣!!! I do not ordinarily like OXO because their handles are sticky to me but since this is not a handled device that isn’t an issue. I think I will order an onion keeper ‘cause my big lemon tree is just about ready to give me big lemons and this really isn’t made for grapefruit sized anything 😉. You do have to put it together “just so” and if you push the envelope, so to speak, you could break something. If you are reasonably careful, though, and there are not recent manufacturing problems, and you don’t frickin’ drop it 🙄, I think you will like this.Original review from March 2020 purchase: I’m sorry to all the lemons I’ve wasted over the years. This thing really works! It’s quite versatile, not just for lemons I think. Being able to slice a piece on the little plate saves me washing a cutting board. It’s quite a stretch to cover my orange-sized lemons but they do fit without busting out the super stretchy silicone. I wish I’d gotten a picture (especially cause it looks really funny) but I’m reduced to store lemons this time of year. Common lemons are so, er, common and don’t really put the stretch to the test. The stretchy silicone disk fits into a track on the frame and falls out if it’s not carefully snugged in. It’s easy enough to snug though and easy to wash by hand or in the dishwasher. Be sure it’s anchored in the dishwasher because it’s got no weight to it at all and will flop all about.

So easy to use and definitely keeps onion fresh longer!!! Dishwasher Safe. Love it - sure beats plastic wrap for ease of use and lack of waste, since it is reusable!!!

First off, as you might expect from OXO, this is a well-made little gizmo. Nice materials, easy to clean, easy to open and shut. Also rather cute.At first, when I cut a lemon in half and stuck the unused half into this, it was great. Perfect design for keeping a half-lemon, cut-side down.However, when I sliced a wedge off that half, and wanted to store again what was left, the design, which is otherwise ok, didn't really do the job, as there was no way to cover more than one cut side. The lemon was fine, but not optimal.So, maybe not for me, with my lemon or onion-using habits.

I was a little confused by the design of this contraption and then when I cut a beautiful organic slicing tomato in half and put it in this thing it smashed the tomato. It might be OK for half an orange or half of an apple anything harder than a tomato.. I’ll keep it and use it for that purpose but otherwise I would not buy it for tomatoes

This helps an onion to last longer. However I have two of them because a big onion doesn’t work. It won’t shut. I cut the onion in half and use two these.
