I bought these whistles as I just moved to an area where you can encounter bears. I have a dog to walk so was a bit worried. Fortunately I haven’t had to use them yet but feel a sense of security having these light weight but really loud whistles on my key chain.

The old style single chamber aluminum whistles bought from sporting good store is louder and has a deeper tone with less breath pressure. Calls a dog in an orchard easily 1/2 mile away; but not this one.Single chamber 12 mm or 15/32 " diameter.Many brands are exactly from the same OEM. Compare pics and get the cheaper ones.This style is loud enough but could be better.Normally I use knotted shoe laces for quick key and whistle retrieval from pocket better than chemical for self defense. Proven by female staff in NYC. Mugger or assault stopped cold every time.

I purchased this for my dog and myself’s safety,for our walks, I give this 100%! 5 star!! It’s worth the few extra bucks made great, not cheap, long cord, durable and had a loud whistle, I’ve been quite rough with it and still had not had to bust out the second whistle that came with the pack, still on the first, made strong!! Also loud- which can be heard for quite a distance! I wear it daily, and proudly!

Bought these to keep on my when I walk my dog in the early morning and evening...not worried about people as much as the coyotes that roam my community; although since these came as a pack of two, I can keep the other on me when I'm out shopping as well. Very light weight; the chord is very helpful as you can just hang it around your neck, but it also has a o ring so it can be attached to keys, etc. The whistle is LOUD and will certainly be heard pretty far. I also like that it is a slim design and not the old fashioned whistle shape; it fits easily in a pocket or on a keyring without being too bulky.

it's bombing !!! I was driving along the sidewalk. a homeless man walked ahead. I drove very close to him from behind. (I could not move onto the road and could not go around him, because he walked in the middle of the sidewalk and staggered a little). I could go faster than he went. I called out to him several times, continuing to move behind him very slowly: "Sir! Sir! Excuse me! Hey! Hello! Man! Hey Sir!" - but the homeless person did not react at all to this - and I just had to use this device ... I blew to this whistle (I hadn’t tested it before, because I received it only today, and I went to a deserted place to test this product .. .) To my surprise, the volume exceeded all expectations !!! When I blew to the whistle - the homeless jumped (high enough) three (!) Times !!!, only after that he turned around ... I said: "Excuse me, give me a way, please." He asked: "What is heck а that?!?" I said, "Sorry, I called you a few times ..." He said, "I thought it was a train going." 🤣 I gave him $ 2 and went.Now I will never blow this whistle again, so as not to frighten people ... !

My wife and I bought these whistles for our bug out bag. They are extremely light weight, nice and thin as well as compact.Why you should:These whistles are extremely thin, lightweight and compact. They're convenient because you can store them in a small pocket, on a keychain or whatever else you might need to.Why you shouldn't:at almost $4 a piece I think that it might be a little bit overpriced considering you can get much cheaper options out there. not that $4 is expensive by any means but for what you're getting I'm not sure it is necessarily worth it. The best thing about these is the size, they are super streamline and thin. As far as the noise goes however we weren't necessarily impressed with how loud they are. We tested them out and found them to be on the mediocre side. We are keeping the items because they are convenient and because we have a few more whistles that came with a first aid kit that we purchased.I wouldn't say that these whistles are bad by any means but I do think that there are probably better options out there that are more loud as well as just a streamlined. They're fantastic as far as aesthetics go and seem to be very durable.

At first I thought it wasn't loud enough, just average. I was outside with my mom and tested blowing harder, she complained it was making her ears ring. I probably have some hearing loss due to years of listening to loud music. Good buy in my opinion, onr goes in my bug out bag, and the on hand when walking around the neighborhood for exercise. I recommend these whistles
