A missed opportunity
I'd like to report that this is a good portable player, but unfortunately this is a real missed opportunity. There's a gap in the market for a quality portable record player, but this falls short if the mark. For the price I really shouldn't be too disappointed, after all you get what you pay for. There are issues with the build quality. While cosmetically it looked great, I noticed that the tone arm was twisted. This meant the stylus was not making contact with the record straight, it was leaning over at an angle. While playable, it's clearly not ideal and will create a whole host of problems. I suppose I should've packed the player up and sent it right back...But I'm a tinkerer. Unlike many of these budget players the cartridge fitting on the MPK is adjustable via the usual kind of fitting you find on "proper" turntables. So, by adding a washer to the left-hand bolt holding the cartridge, I was able to negate the leaning stylus and get it running straight in the groove. While not to hard to achieve, I shouldn't have had to take this action. Shoddy build quality and poor quality checks are inexcusable at any price point.Running checks on the performance of the player while running I discovered it was playing too fast. Rather than the 33.3rpm needed, the player was spinning at around 35rpm. I was able to adjust this down by opening the player, and with a screwdriver, tinkered with the motor's speed adjustment. Not an easy task, and not something you expect to have to do. That said, I was able to get the plater spinning much closer to the required 33.3rpm.The wow and flutter (small changes in speed of the spinning plater) is rather poor, far more than you would expect on a decent turntable. But again, you get what you pay for. It might not be noticeable to most listeners, but at 0.45% it could cause issues depending on the music being played.Testing the tracking weight (the weight of the stylus on the record), I found it was tracking a bit heavy at around 4.5g. Despite what the tone arm looks like, tracking weight is not adjustable. Im not sure what the optimum tracking weight for this Audio Technica cartridge, but I would expect it to be around 2.5g. By adding some weight (a washer and a 5p piece) to the counter-weight, I got it tracking at bang on 2.5g.There's no anti skate adjustment on this player, but I haven't tested whether this is an issue. The speakers aren't great, far bellow the sound quality you might expect from a decent Bluetooth speaker. I did see that the speakers are mounted on springs to avoid vibrations causing the needle to jump about. So, you can crank this up....Not that it kicks out much volume.Using the RCA output to connect to an amp and speakers is far preferable to the lacklustre internal speakers. I did a comparison between this player and my Audio Technica AT-LP3, and the sound of the MPK measures up okay. I'm not sure if I could detect the wow and flutter, or if knowing it has high wow and flutter it's all in my mind.A handle would've been a handy addition, in fact it's rather strange they chose not to fit one. I suppose you could always fit your own. I bought a Velcro strap with a handle, which wraps around the player and does the job.Considering the size of the player, it's a shame that they couldn't find a space to store the plug and power lead. These are minor quibbles, considering the larger problems this player has.Would I reccommend this record player? Unfortunately I wouldn't. If the issues could be ironed out, this could be a nice little player.UPDATEThe problem with the wow and flutter just seemed to get worse, to the point that the listening experience was very poor. I gave it a go. In the end the bad build quality beat me. I sent it back to Amazon. A real shame.

Nice looking player but.....beware!
I have just taken a second delivery of these players.....The first one had a tone arm tracking position fault ( see photo ) but it sounded sort of ok?I returned the player for a replacement. The second player had a correctly positioned tone arm and cartridge but unfortunately it sounded awful. The wow and flutter caused by the erratic turntable speed was horrible to hear on both albums and singles.I will be returning this player also.... not for a third replacement.... but for a full refund. It's a pity because it really looks the business suggesting a quality product just by its appearance. The quality control by Music Public Kingdom company leaves a lot to be desired. Their lack of response to my emails to their Customer Care Dept was also very disappointing.....

Poor quality unit and no volume through speaker
very poor quality product. One of the hinges was broken on opening the box and disappointed with the look and feel of it. Place a record on the turntable and no sound whatsoever. Connected a lead to external speakers and sound came through but of a poor quality. Have activated the return and expect a full refund

It's Fine!
I like the idea that they do not have a bluetooth option because the speaker quality isn't suited for that, BUT The AudioTechnica stylus is a bit fragile. When it is not snapped completely into place, the volume is very low, for good reason. Once it was put on correctly, volume was loud and had enough low end. Possibly could be replaced with a higher quality mechanism, it is fixed in place with screws. AND No! those other suitcase record players that talk about Bluetooth do not connect to a Bluetooth speaker. I'm content considering that, as some else had said, suitcase record players have never in their history, had pristine sound.

Great product, it must be faulty.
Right, reading the other reviews, I have to say that my vinyl record must be faulty because it works very well, the stylus is straight and make good contact, it’s sounds fantastic and no issues with build quality. Well, should I send it back?

just don't even bother
Yes, I read the reviews but still took a chance, as others have said, missed opportunity with this one. The look and feel is great, the sound is great, the whole thing looks like it should be what I need but the big BUT is that it does not work properly, right out the box, first record, into and skipping, tried another same thing. No, its not my records it the machine. I would highly recommend you don't purchase this brand.

Disappointed I'm afraid.
I was looking for an upgrade to my old player and thought this was the answer. Alas. I've had 2 and had problems with both. The first had speed problems, the second had problems with the arm not sitting on the record and jumping plus the sound warbled. Think I'll look for another upgrade solution.
