I bought the "A" version of this kit for an ASUS 513 OLED VivoBook which has an open HD bay and connector but no cable or drive connector. This kit provided everything I needed to install a SATA drive to expand my storage, including a spare cable that was not needed (though I was glad to have it, in case there was a problem. I used only the metal chassis and side bumpers skipping the adhesive disks, which didn't seem necessary. Only minor complaint is that there are no instructions and the cable was a bit longer than needed. Fortunately the ASUS documentation answers many of the installation questions and a YouTube video the rest. Folding the cable was a little tricky but not a huge problem. Overall I'm very happy with this kit.

you will most likely have to bend your ribbon connector flat on a 90 degree angle to reach the motherboard. Apparently you can do this with these cords. Ya the kit worked great just so long as you know this. even tho my ribbon is totally bent down the hard drive is working at 100%.

I ordered this a week ago and received my order a month earlier than projected by Amazon. At first I was skeptical that this would do the job, but to my surprise it was a perfect fit. The content: a metal caddy, 4 screws, 1 pair of yellow rubber supports that go on the sides of the drive to fit the HDD/SSD empty slot snugly, 1 connector, 2 ribbon cables (you only need 1). and a double-sided rubber sticker. I have included pictures for your reference and for those of you who are on the hunt for a substitute of the OEM (which ASUS did not include for reasons only known to them), this item will do just fine. In fact, it’s perfect, and for just a fraction of the price, it will do the job it is intended for. I highly recommend this product.

The SATA connector and 8 pin cable worked exactly as expected. I now have a second hard drive for my VivoBook X512DA. The mounting options are not ideal. I ended up using the yellow spacers for a friction fit as shown. I'm glad they included them. There wasn't a practical way to use the bracket, screws, and tape. And the cable is a bit longer than I'd like, so I had to fold it a few times. Still, better too long than too short. I did contact Asus previously. They don't include an adapter for the second hard drive for this model, and they don't offer a part number to buy OEM. So, I'm glad there is this generic option. Finally, just as a heads up, my Windows didn't see the drive at first. So, I booted into BIOS/UEFI Settings, saw the drive was listed under SATA, then rebooted (no changes) and this time Windows saw the drive.

I wanted to add a 1tb ssd to my new Asus M515UA-NS77. The website advised I needed the B kit and they were right. The included ssd adapter with cable attached was what is needed and hooked up perfectly. The included rubber wrap around fit nicely, no sticky tape was necessary and when the back was reinstalled, everything was snug. The ssd was fixed in place. I watched videos of the hookup points showing the left side but on my laptop the connection is about middle of the circuit board, just above battery. It's a 308 or 309 connection point, really small print. Everything works, very nice install kit.

I plug in everything the way it supposed to go and as soon as I turn on my laptop, I could smell something burning. Turns out it was the SATA CABLE . Don’t buy this it’s dangerous. I’ll be escalating this to Amazon..

This data ribbon hdd/ssd kit Works 100% with My ASUS VivoBook 15 X513. It allowed me to easily attached a secondary Western Digital Blue 1TB SSD to use for data storage or as my daily needs require. The kit came with everything I needed to have a successful install. Two other tools you will need would be a small Phillips screwdriver and a plastic pry tool to separate the laptop case. As the Kogan laptop has an unusual internal SATA connector this kit allows fitting of a 2.5” SATA drive as additional storage or boot drive. I paired it with a 1TB SSD Aa d it worked perfectly.

After asking seller which product would be correct for my laptop (ASUS Vivobook 15 X515JA) (pin 'A' or pin 'B') I purchased it, fitted it with no problem (be careful where you route the cable) and all works absolutely great. would definitely recommend this seller and product.
