Would Highly Recommend, Good Quality Knife Steel for the Money
For the money it has a quite good quality blade in regards to taking a good edge and retaining it, so if you are on a budget this is a very good choice. This is the second one of these knives I have owned, I use them a lot. This wood handle has sharper corners that my other one which is about 20 years old, but using some coarse sandpaper to rough shape it and medium/fine to finish, it's pretty simple to round/sculpt the handle for a more comfortable feel in the hand. I used power tools because I have them, but it's not essential. The handle starts out large enough for larger hands, but can be reduced to fit smaller hands. Once the handle is shaped to fit your hand, it's a 5 star knife for most purposes.

A great tool
I own some very expensive cutlery but am always impressed by Chicago Cutlery, It sharpens beautifully and holds an edge well. I think it is very ergonomically balanced and works like an extension of my hand. Years ago, I bought a Chicago Cutlery boner to replace my favorite old cooking knife that died of old age after 30 years of constant use. The blade finally snapped and I was lost. I purchased another used one and just love using it so I decided to get this for bigger cuts of meat and large vegetables. It easily cuts through a large rutabaga like butter! I love the feel of this wonderful American-made knife and the price makes it even better.

Fabulous slicing knife
Chicago cutlery slicing knife. I use it to slice watermelon, meat, romaine and pretty much anything except bread. I purchased a second one for a second home. I have my original knife for 49 years. It was a full Chicago cutlery set. I absolutely love them.

Decent Slicer
All my knives are Chicago Cutlery and have been great so I expected it would be fine. This replaces my 30 year old slicer that finally snapped on me. This has good blade length and is sharp. I read other reviews not liking the boxy handle and I can agree but that doesn't bother me much or cause discomfort. However on mine the edge of the tang is protruding a bit beyond the edge of the handle all the way around. Not really uncomfortable but I do feel it, especially when I twist the knife slightly. So this isn't bad for the money but I'll replace it with something else.

Excellent carving knife. I bought it to replace the exact same one I’ve had for 30 years.Great looking knife, came nice and sharp - used it right away !!I cannot attest to durability of this one but, as I mentioned above my last one lasted me 30 years. Exact same knife..

Chicago Cutlery Knives
My family has been useing these knives for over 70+ years! I grew up with one that had been my Grandfathers. (I am 74 yrs. old) The knife got very thin after years and years of sharpening and then broke. We could not find a knife that would carve meat like our old knife. Then we found out that it was a Chicago Cutlery knife and ordered another. My Mother used that for sometime and then ordered one for my brother and one for me. Ours was used just about daily - and met the same fate as tme other after many years. So, went online and found the knife once again and bought the 8 and 6 inch knives. These knives are truly the only knives you would ever need!!!
