I'm proud to say that its MADE IN THE USA. It is a superior product, too.

Q: do the hip straps have the oprion to be hidden, zipped away or strapped off??

The hip straps are removable. They actually aren't attached to the backpack when you get it in the box it's shipped in. Great piece of gear! Very glad I bought it.
