An interesting view of the British temperament and character .
A typical British statement concerning their strong beliefs in the righteousness of their motives and actions set in an historical time and event that tested the integrity of the Empire. An omen of things to be faced and the difficulties to be met in the ensuing years.Interesting plot makes for a good read and a reminder of an era when the liberties of language were flexible and at times inventive.

Had to give it up a quarter if the way.
The grammar, the way the story is told, the grip was not there, rather poorly edited etc.

Very good
This book is very informative. There are many typos but story was still easy to follow. Someone needs to edit.

To Much of a badThing
The constant injecting of the bad guy led me to put the book down several times. The love story was overplayed. This may be a good book for someone who likes the story told over and over.

OK, but not his best book.
I have enjoyed Hume's books in the past, but this was not my favorite. Too long and finally I skipped to the end.
