A Quality Phone System with Great Features
VTech CS6429-2 DECT 6.0 Digital Two Handset Cordless Answering System with Caller IDI looked at a lot of different landline phones before I purchased this system and I'm glad I did. The call quality is great, and the ringers are sufficient. The buttons are large and clear and have a great feel to them. They also light up for a little while when you pick the phone up from the base or press a button, so you can see them in the dark. [Yes, the screen lights up as well!] These phones just have a great look and feel to them; They don't feel cheap, and they work perfectly. The main base plugs into a phone jack and a power outlet, but the second phone base only needs a power outlet. You can always add more handsets if you find 2 isn't enough for you. VTech CS6409 DECT 6.0 Accessory handset only requires CS6419, CS6429 or SC6428Any numbers you add to one handset's phonebook automagically sync with the other one. You can check your voice messages from either handset, or from the main docking station/answering machine. There is an intercom button to call the other handset if you want to talk to someone in a different part of the house. [or office, I guess] Each handset has it's own speakerphone speaker that works very well and simply; You just push the speaker button on the handset to toggle between speakerphone or regular phone. When you miss a call, it tells you how many you missed on each handset until you scroll down and view them through the caller ID. [on the handset]The menu is well-organized and easy to navigate. I bought this phone primarily as a house-phone for my father, who had previously owned several cell-phones over the past decade and always hated trying to use them. From the small buttons, to the poor call quality, to not being able to check his messages or missed calls, he was constantly frustrated with his cellphone. He usually chose not to or forgot take it with him if he went anywhere anyways, so I thought it was time to try out a landline phone instead. I'm mentioning this because although my father is almost 70 years old and had a stroke in 2001, he has not had trouble getting used to this phone and now he actually gets all his missed calls and messages!I only have one minor complaint about this system: When you listen to your voice messages, it quickly tells you the date and time the message was left, [awesome], then plays the message, [still fine], but then when it's over you don't get a chance to delete it. You have to either delete it before the message is over, or you have to press play again and then delete it before the message is over. You can also press the big delete X twice to just delete all old messages, but you might not want to delete them all. It's kind of a small thing, but it would be nice if it just gave you a second or two after the message plays to delete it. Oh yeah, and don't forget that if the power goes out, a cordless phone won't work at all. Overall, this is a fantastic, quality phone system that I highly recommend!

Gread Product
Intro:We decided to bundle our cable package with cable, internet, and phone to get the best deal. I didn't really feel like a phone was necessary because my fiance and I both have a cellphones. However, my fiance gets terrible phone service and I was getting really fet up with only being able to understand a few words and constantly saying "huh?" "What?". So I decided it was time to buy a house phone.I really wanted something that was going to be cheap, but that came with two handsets, had an answering machine, and of course, was Amazon Prime Eligible. I spent at least an hour looking through the many different phones until I came across this one. I got it within a day of ordering it (yay Amazon Prime!) and started pulling it out of the box to set up. Here are the pros and cons I encountered.Pros:-Set up was a no brainer. Just pull the phone out of the box and plug in the batteries, and place the covers over there and you're good to go.-I thought I was going to need a second phone cord for the second handset (which we put in our bedroom) and then I realized it completely runs off the signal from our other phone. Not sure if thats related to our wifi/digital cable or what.-You get a nice mellow ring, its not shrill and annoying like some cordless handsets.Cons:-The instructions on setting up the voicemail are written kinda funky, and it took me a minute to figure out it that you need to click an additional step on the handset to record your message.-This was not a con for me, but it may be a con for some of your. You'll need to buy a DSL Filter (does not come with the product) if you're using a DSL internet provider. We have Time Warner and its digital cable and internet so it wasn't an issue. Conclusion:Overall, the product does what it should and does it well. I'd definitely recommend this to other people looking to buy a home phone system.

Very good functionality
I love the capabilities of this phone system! The voice quality is excellent, and the speaker phone is very clear. Even the base unit has a cordless handset which is very convenient. I already had a 3 handset system that failed, so I bought this one. It was a little tricky converting the 3 original handsets to operate on the new base unit. They must be un-registered from the original base unit and re-registered to the new base unit. I found out that only the original base unit can un-register its handsets. I'm fairly handy and found that it was the cord mounted power supply that failed, so I hooked the old base unit to a dc power supply and used it to unregister the 3 original handsets. Then I used the new base unit to unregister its 2 handsets, and then re-registered all 5 handsets to the new base unit. V-tech, you need to make this process easier! If I couldn't have made the old base unit work I couldn't have used 3 perfectly good handsets! The range of the system is very good. Our house is over 2000 Sq. Ft. and the handsets work fine in any area of the house and yard. Another nice feature is an intercom function that allows any handset to call any other. Each handset is assigned a single digit number. I haven't found any of the system's features to be lacking in performance. It's a well designed system and performs admirably!
