Vastly improves stitch speed compared to using a nail set or awl or something like that. Cutting the holes makes it easier to pull the needles through while having multiple cutting heads on each punch makes it much faster to pre-punch all the stitch holes.

Really good little punch set the spacing sizes are about prefect for most jobs, seems very sturdy and is able to easily punch through 2 layers of 9-10oz leather. Very much wish I'd have bought these from the start.

Have been using the chisels for a bit now. They serve their purpose and lay down a nice slant to the stitch as long as you include a loop during the saddle stitch. without the loop, the stitch looks straight. If you want the English saddle stitch look (slant), I find it works best when you add a loop or two...

Looks to be a study and useful tool which is why it gets more than 1 star but the down side is that its sizes are wrong.It says the it has a 2.3mm set, a 3.1mm set and a 3.9mm set but that's incorrect. It actual is a 4mm set, a 5mm set and a 6mm set. I'm happy with the construction overall but I needed the smaller sizes

All pieces are well finished and sharp, and does exactly what it needs to do. Bit to ferrule could stand to be a little bit stronger, because it will bend on you if you're not careful.
